Not sure if it was '98 or '99, but my dad wanted to see what "The Sopranos" was all about, so we got HBO again, and I was happy cause "Sex and the City" was Darren Star's latest project. (*cough* BH90210 *cough*) Plus, with a title like that (which I thought was so stupid at the time ), how can you not see what the show is about?

Good answer.

I think I started watching it in 2001 .. I think It used to be on Channel 9 and I flicked over and it looked interesting. Plus like Mel said the title grabbed me (I was a teenager ) and I wanted to see what it was all about.

Haven't looked back since

Well my Mom used to watch the show all the time, but she wouldn't let me watch because I was too young. So around 2006 I got into the show on regular cable channels where they played the "Cut" episodes. I would watch every night, and I always loved Carrie. And then I stopped because they moved the time around, and just never watched. Then the movie came out, saw it opening night, and realized I was missing out if I didn't watch the show completely. So I borrowed from sister, which I didn't even know she had!, the complete series set - and watched it all in a month. Completely in love ever since.

And little random fact, I remember the night the series finale aired in the States and it was also the night of the Emmy and SJP won that night. I was always a fan of SJP but I remember being so angry that SATC was ending because it was getting all the awards and "Friends" wasn't

I had seen previews and stuff and wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I love how it deals with friendships (I wish I had that really) and I haven't looked back.

Thanks for starting this thread!

I got into SATC late as I was too young when it first aired and I didn't really hear that much about it, but then I went to see the movie with my friends (three times) and started watching the series on Comedy Central in the UK, which used to air three episodes a night! I got hooked from there really, and now my aim is to get my friends to watch all of the series and become just as hooked

I honestly can't remember if it was season 1 or season 2 when I first caught satc, because i was so young at the time and because I've seen so many reruns since. But as soon as I started watching I was hooked - 1. I instantly loved the 4 lead characters, 2. it was kinda new to see a show with such 'riskee' story lines and 3. I fell in love with Mr. Big (I actually stopped watching after S5 first time round cos I was sooo mad that Big left, then when I heard all the hype about him and Carrie in the S6 finale I HAD to watch lol)
