The Outcasts #205: Because... have we mentioned table sex yet this year?

What if our love, never went away?
What if it's lost behind, words we could never find?

Because... have we mentioned table sex yet this year?

moments that stay with you forever...

Sean: So why do you cut?
Ellie: What, you're not going to scare
it out of me like you did with Hazel?
Sean: No.
Ellie:
I think, it was the only pain I
could control.
Sean: That makes sense.
Ellie: You're the first person whose
ever said that.

The "freak"? The "rebel"? They knew there was more to them than their labels...

Complicated, short-tempered, and compassionate, Sean Hope Cameron returned to Degrassi Community School with a tough exterior, a chip on his shoulder, and a heart of gold. His family life in Wasaga Beach was far from ideal. Living in a trailer park, he was raised by his alcoholic parents and spent a great deal of time there getting into trouble. One run-in with the law left another boy, Tyler, deafened in one ear, causing his parents to send him to his brother, Tracker, in Toronto. During his days at Degrassi, Sean began to settle into a more comfortable lifestyle. However, Sean still had a penchant for getting into tricky situations, testing the relationships in his first couple years in school. He wasn’t afraid to hit, or hit the bottle. After taking up with resident bad boy, Jay Hogart, he also wasn’t afraid to steal. That said, and as is usually the case with Sean, his better nature kicked in, and he started making personal strides for himself. Taking the initiative to become more independent, he applied and received student welfare, started studying, and stopped stealing, making amends with those he wronged along the way. Witness to these changes were three very important people in his life: Tracker, his brother; Mr. Ehl, his teacher/mentor; and Ellie Nash, his live-in girlfriend. In grade ten, Sean faced his biggest obstacle yet: how to deal with the aftermath of the school shooting that shook Degrassi. After heroically facing Rick, thus ending any further violence after Jimmy was shot, Sean couldn’t deal with the internal pressures of the event. Sadly, he decided to stay in Wasaga Beach with his parents. Despite his cool composure and distant demeanor, Sean has a vulnerable and admirable quality that countless people appreciate. He will stand up for the little guys (J.T./Toby) and hang with the tough guys (Jay/Towerz), make peace when needed, search for honor in situations. Because of this, it is not at all surprising that Sean is presently enlisted in the Canadian Army, maturing further into the good man he didn’t think he could be, but many saw he could be from the start.

Sarcastic, creative, honest to a fault, Ellie Nash is the quiet spitfire that has subtly charmed her way into the audience’s hearts. Despite an initial shyness with boys, Ellie has always been known to make her voice heard, whether you like it or not. What other girl would deny queen bee Paige Michalchuk her seat, with a confident smile? However, buried beneath the multi-hued plaits, and witty retorts, was a girl with an open, fragile heart. It lead to a burgeoning crush on Marco, which never ended up the way she wanted despite their joint love of film and dark literature, because of Marco’s orientation. Though bruised, Ellie stood faithfully by her friend during this difficult time in his life, even as she navigated her own personal crises. Her father, a colonel, left the family to serve in Kabul, as her mother sank into the darkness of alcoholism. The building stress of school, a prestigious co-op with Caitlin Ryan, and handling her alcoholic mother, lead Ellie to search for a way to deal with the pain. She turned to cutting, citing it as a pain she could control. With the help of Paige, and Ms. Sauve, and later a support group, Ellie found other ways to deal with her home life. During these darker moments, she found a mutual, loving relationship with her fellow detention inhabitant, Sean. Ellie became more expressive, finally confronting her mother about the cutting; more of a romantic; more of an everyday teenager. After Sean left, Ellie became very cynical about guys. A friendship with Jimmy and a crush on Craig never amounted to much. On the other hand, her style evolved, and where once there were pigtails and fishnets, she started wearing her hair straight and adorning business attire. Now, a driven journalism student with ambitious career goals, Ellie is a first-year student at the University of Toronto. Smart, practical, beautiful, and kind, Ellie always has her ears and mind open for a quick quote, a friend, or a lucky boyfriend. She may stumble out of birth control offices, or smudge her mascara, but she has the grace and resilience of the strongest of women.

I know you think that I shouldn't still love you,
Or tell you that.
But if I didn't say it, well I'd still have felt it,
where's the sense in that?
http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i.../bioSellie.png
They were the first couple to live together. They often responded to any problems, quickly and compassionately. They remain one of the only couples to say “I love you” more than once. For all of this, Sean and Ellie are rightfully (and consistently) called one of the most mature relationships that has been on Degrassi: The Next Generation. The two rebels, one with fiery red hair, the other with a skull cap, only knew of each other in passing. Perhaps that made it all the easier for them to reconnect so naturally and believably, two strangers that didn’t think of each other as strange. Meeting in the infamous Saturday detention, Sean shared his history of theft, and Ellie displayed the marks on her arm to him. As he tenderly traced her cuts, we knew there was a connection in that silent gesture. Always patient with her, Sean forgave Ellie for taping his secret regarding the stolen equipment; found time to drop by her job; understood that she didn’t know how the whole boyfriend thing worked. The writers maintained their tender gestures throughout their two-season run: falling asleep together on the couch while watching bad movies; Sean making guacamole for Ellie; Ellie helping Sean with his homework. Luckily, for the viewers, the gestures were a reflection of a hard-won relationship.

After their initial interest in each other, the relationship faced problems immediately. Finding greener pastures elsewhere, Tracker elected to move and wanted Sean to come with him. Sean, risking losing his year and leaving Ellie, chose to stay. This lead Ellie to run at first from sadness, come back with the proposal of a long-distance relationship, and ultimately, perform the infamous jump-in-your arms moment when Sean announces his intentions to stay. A new adventure of Sean having student welfare resulted in some good things for him, including better grades and a stable relationship with Ellie. His friendship with Jay also ended due to the excessive partying that could’ve cost him his welfare. Sean made the right decision, focusing on his academics, and later repairing his friendships. We also noticed a change in Ellie, who we saw grooving at one of Sean’s first house parties, another moment we won’t soon forget. Smiles became less foreign on her pretty face. The verbal smackdown of Avril-loving Amy and the final season 3 Sellie hug were additional treats.

Season 4 only caused more growth for our rebellious romantics. Ms. Nash, still struggling with her drinking, met Sean at Back to School Night, shining a light on issues Ellie had been dealing with the past year. Sensing her need to get away, Sean proposed living together, with Ellie moving in with “someone who loves” her. Hesitant to leave her mother, she doesn’t until Ms. Nash accidentally burns down the Nash’s kitchen. Sean withstands Ms. Nash’s cold comments to stick up for Ellie’s well-being, so much so that her mother must agree. Ellie and Sean shacked up, and delighted themselves in the joys of domesticity, including buying beloved ferret Bueller, a rodent who can’t seem to stay still. Unfortunately, tragedy struck, and Sellie had to cope as best they could. Confronted by personal demons post-shooting, Sean goes to face the parents he believed gave up on him, Ellie along for the ride. Along the way, Ellie consistently stood by him, but the depth of the situation prevented them from being together. Trading their last, poignant “I love you”s, Ellie tearfully ducked into Jay’s car, with Sean staying in Wasaga.

In season 7, while Sean and Ellie are chasing their individual dreams, we’re reminded of why they worked and why they’ve earned so much respect. Why do the two misfits deserve a gold star? Why do two people with the bad reputations, the dark pasts, have a good reputation as a couple? Perhaps it’s because their communication was quick and swift, each problem resolved so they could tackle another. Perhaps it’s the lack of judgement, a willingness to hear the other out. Perhaps it’s the space they’re willing to let the other have. Perhaps it’s because we believe that they’d be content with only a bad movie, a frisky ferret, and each other. Or, perhaps, it’s because they knew, like we knew, they were open to everything they could learn together, and thus, become better people. We have faith they’ll want to continue these things in the future.

Hey, Sellie....guess you guys got to us, so we dream on...

Ellie: Better?
Sean: I think it's gonna be, yeah.

Totally shacking up!

Why Ellie for Sean?

“I think Ellie, overall, is a mature, thoughtful, and non-judgmental person. This provides a nice balance for Sean, who can often end up in sticky situations. He would need a significant other who would offer him unwavering support. But Ellie also has a huge conscience and is very honest, so she'd be forthright if she dislikes something he did.”
-Nikki

“She accepted him for who he was, but at the same time, didn't put up with his crap. Making him want to be better, not only for her, but for himself. And she never pressured him to do it, he just WANTED to be better. No pressure, no ultimatums. She loved him without condition or judgment. They were just a perfect fit.”
-Erin

“…because she knew exactly who he was when she looked into his eyes. and because she loved him.”
-Sarah

“Ellie doesn't make Sean feel like less of a person because he's been in trouble. She knows that there is more to him If she doesn't understand where he's coming from or why he does the things he does, she doesn't lecture him. While I'm sure she wants the best for him, it seems like she just be there as he tries to make his way along. I think this is more beneficial for a guy like Sean who appears to have had numerous people in his life tell him that he's a bad kid. If you keep telling someone they are bad, eventually they will stop trying because they think they aren't anything else.”
-Nicole

“Ellie inspired Sean to get his act together. He stopped stealing and became more mature because he emancipated himself from his brother, he started living on his own and started being held accountable for his actions.”
-Kasey

http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...OMreaction.jpg

http://i3.tinypic.com/7wf5kiq.jpg
Why Sean for Ellie?

“He treated her with respect, love and understanding. He knew her scars (literally and figuratively) but never judged her for them. He accepted her, 100%. He knew she was strong, but at the same time, wasn't afraid to take care of her when she needed it. In the end, for both of them, it was a relationship based on love, respect for one another, and understanding. They made each other better, not because they expected the other to change, but because they taught each other that they could be better.”
-Erin

“Ellie needs someone stable, loving, but who isn't as sensitive as her. She's probably one of the most fragile girls and needs a rock. Sean was her rock during their relationship, and was incredibly patient with her. Ellie hasn't open up to another person as much, except for Marco.”
-Nikki

“He truly loved her, and despite being the type of guy who didn’t know how to express his feelings or the guy who grew up not knowing much about love, he put himself out there, for her. He told her how he felt, and was always honest with her. While with he, he matured so much, as always did his best to take care of her and protect her from her mother’s drinking when she needed it. During all of it, he never made her feel like less of a person because of her home life and what she was going through, he understood. He could relate.”
-Joa

“Sean never has high expectations of Ellie, and Ellie never tried to change Sean. Sean went through a great transition in late season three and into season four, and it was because of who he was, not because Ellie had to be his little trainer who pushed him in the right direction. And Sean never put Ellie on a ridiculous and unrealistic pedestal. They both accepted and wanted to be with each other, despite the flaws (it wasn't a lesson they were forced to learn later on).”
-Melanie

“Sean sees all of her and accepts it. He knows she's fragile and has a hard time saying how she feels and doesn't hold this against her. He knows she has a hard time trusting people and tries his hardest not to test this trust.”
-Nicole

Favorite Shipper Episode

5. Don't Dream it's Over
4. Back in Black
3. Our House
2. Take on Me

1. Anywhere I Lay My Head

http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...AILMHfavep.jpg

“I have a soft spot for OH, but overall, I'd say AILMH. I thought the whole cutting storyline was nicely handled, and Sean had to put up with a lot to protect Ellie. Ellie became stronger as the ep wore on, and the scene with her mother was wonderful. And we got the intro to baby Bueller!”
-Nikki

“‘Anywhere I Lay My Head.’ There were so many wonderful things about this episode. First, it was good to finally see Ellie’s issues with her mom come to ahead. And Sean was there for Ellie the whole time and was supportive, without putting any unnecessary pressure on her. This was the first time Sean told her he loved her, and he really proved it throughout the whole episode. He truly cared about her and wanted to make sure she’d be safe. And let’s not forget that Sean asked Ellie to move in with him. He ASKED her. And it was BEFORE the issue of the fire.”
-Melanie

Favorite Sellie quote?

“Move in, with someone who loves you.”
-Katie

Sean: “I think you're cute. I guess I got to you.”
Ellie: “Dream on”
-Sarah

“‘Sean, I-I love you…’ ‘I love you too…’ would have to be my favorite moment, it was bittersweet!”
-Kasey

“So I don't freak you out?”
-Nicole

“‘Move in with someone who loves you’.” You can see how unselfish Sean was in that moment, and that Ellie was attracted to the idea of living somewhere where she could be herself and not have to worry. Plus it led them living together peacefully, which is very rare for TV couples, let alone two teenagers!”
-Nikki

Saddest Shipper Moment

5. Mrs. Nash slapping Sean in Anywhere I Lay My head
4. Sean telling Ellie they have to break up in Our House
3. Sean crushing Ellie's tape in Take On Me
2. Sean yelling at Ellie in Back in Black

1. Back in Back goodbyes.

<embed width="448" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://img.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vidmg.photobucket.com/albums/v232/lalatina15/degrassi/videos/SEO%20clips/2b98a941.flv"></embed>

"Sean, please... I-I love you."
"I love you too..."

What makes them as a couple so unique/different?

“A lot of the couples are really dramatic. I've never disliked Sellie, but I could understand the argument that they seemed perfect and this was unrealistic. I'm a lover of angst and I think that Sellie does have that. It's just more subtle. Sometimes it's more of them reacting to stuff that was out of their control - Ellie's mom's alcoholism and the shooting. Other times it's things that are up for to try to overcome like Ellie with her desire to cut to cope or Sean resisting peer pressure and making things up to people he's wronged in the past.”
-Nicole

“They match and kind of don't match. They're both sarcastic outsiders with huge hearts. Then, they have very different personalities in some respects. Sean's tough with a sweet soul, and Ellie's sweet with a tough soul. Some couples are opposites attract, or they're very similar. I feel Sellie's a mix of that.”
-Nikki

“They were a mature, adult couple. They moved in together and didn't have a bunch of fights, which is better than a lot of married couples. I don't think many, if any, of the other couples could do that.”
-Katie

“They were one of the more mature and less angst-ridden couples on the show. People accused them of being "unrealistic" just because they weren’t arguing all the time like most of the couples. Sean and Ellie weren't unrealistic. They were HEALTHY. Their problems were more trivial because not every relationship needs to go on a roller coaster in order to prove how strong it is. Sean and Ellie proved to be strong because they knew how to resolve their problems maturely without blowing it out of proportion. It set them apart in a good way and it’s not something they should be put down for.”
-Melanie

“They relate to each other and get each other like no one else and they were both such a mature and loving couple.”
-Katie W.

Favorite Brief Appearance

<embed width="448" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://img.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vidmg.photobucket.com/albums/v232/lalatina15/degrassi/videos/SEO%20clips/53008af2.flv"></embed>

"Better?"
"I think it's gonna be, yeah."

What about them will you never forget?

“How accepting they were. There was never any judgment, and they were completely honest with each other about everything.”
-Katie

“I don't think there will be ANOTHER couple to live together during high school, having domesticity without the stress. I commend them for that. Then, their conversations were some of the best between any couple on the show. I won't soon forget the mature dialogue.”
-Nikki

“The way he would look at her.”
-Sarah

“I honestly will never forget anything about them but if I were to pick one thing that was the most important to me I guess I'd have to say I'll never forget that the last words (so far) that they have spoken to each other is ‘I love you’!”
-Kasey

“Handholding. It's something that will soothe either one when they are upset and it acts as a reminder that the other will be there for them; this is important since both have likely felt neglected by their families as one point and this has soured their outlook on relationships some. It's not just their hands that are joining them together...it feels like something else is going on. I'm going all fangirly on you - their handholding reminds me of the quote ‘What is a friend? A single soul dwelling in two bodies.’”
-Nicole

What is your perfect Sellie ending?

“Both of them realizing that out of all the relationships in their life, nobody’s ever understood them quite like each other. I do think that in time, they’ll come back to each other.”
-Joa

“A lot of people would be satisfied with open endings for the couples of “what ifs.” Sean and Ellie don’t need that. I really do think they are the kind of couple that could end up together. A perfect (and suited) ending would be marriage.”
-Melanie

“I'm not sure I ever envisioned them as married, because Ellie strikes me as more of the professional woman who loves her career too much. But she'd be starting her journalism career, with Sean running a car dealership, and they'd check up on each other. When they're thirty, they'll date and Sean will persuade Ellie that tying the knot is best at this stage. They'll have red-headed, rebellious babies.”
-Nikki

“Talking about Wasaga and dealing with any left over anger/hurt feelings over that, then being happy together.”
-Katie

“Either Ellie or Sean is in trouble and they set aside their hurt feelings, their past relationship/relationships with others and just be there for each other. During this period, they realize that no one sees them like they see each other. They decide to take it slow and slowly grow as people, they grow together.”
-Nicole

Here Comes Your Man Part 1

Sean surprises Ellie at The Dot. Ellie seems pleased to see him at first, and Sean tells her all about how he's back from Wasaga Beach for good and plans to open a car shop. He's done a lot of growing up. However, Ellie still holds animosity towards Sean for abandoning her, and when he suggests getting back together she turns him down. The next day, when applying for a job at a garage, Sean meets Jay who appears to already have a job there. Jay is thrilled to see Sean again, and tells Sean if he needs a place to stay, his door is open, in which Sean accepts until he can afford his own place. He notices that Sean seems down. When Sean tells Jay about Ellie, Jay decides to cheer him out by taking him to the parking lot where the street races are. Although Sean seems uncertain about it at first, he agrees. He ends up having fun, and even participates in a race himself and wins. The next day, we see him enrolling back in school, where he chats up with Spinner and Mr. Simpson.

Later Sean is having a coffee at The Dot, Ellie walks in and apologizes to him for being so harsh before. He tells her he understands. They talk about the shop he wants to open, as well as how he feels coming back since the shooting. Sean then invites Ellie to hang out with him, Jay, and Alex at the parking lot, and she agrees. She enjoys hanging out with them until she realizes that Sean participated in illegal street racing. He tells her its no big deal, but she tells him it’s not her scene and leaves. Sean is disappointed, but Jay tells him to forget about it. Later that night, while another street race is occurring, the police show up and start arresting people. Both Jay and Sean run off. Sean runs to Marco and Ellie's, stating that Spinner told him where she lived (as it is now their official hangout). They talk about what happened earlier and Sean convinces Ellie that he hasn't gone back to his criminal ways. However, the cops show up at the door, as it turns out he was being followed. He is charged for street racing, referring to the last one in which he was not involved in. Ellie is worried as Sean is pushed into the cop car.

Here Comes Your Man, Part Two

Sean is sitting in a jail after being forced to spend the night. He is relieved when a prison guard tells him his bail has been paid. Just as he nears the station entrance, he sees Ellie waiting. Ellie tells him she got her mom's help to get the money to bail him out. Sean thanks her but doesn't sound too grateful. He is annoyed that he's only been back for less than a week and already he needs someone to bail him out of his problems. Later that day at the Dot, Sean tells Jay all about what happened. Jay feels bad that Sean got caught when he didn't, and tells Sean that at least the worst is over. But Sean is still angry and lashes out at Jay, indirectly blaming him for every time things went wrong in his life. Hurt, Jay lashes back at Sean, calling him a coward for wimping out and running to Wasaga after the shooting, in an attempt to hurt Sean in return. Feeling worse, Sean storms out. At school, Ellie shows up to have lunch with Ashley. They talk about Sean and how Ellie really feels about Sean being back. Ellie tells her about Sean getting arrested, and how she is not sure to believe him when he says he plans to turn his life around. Ashley tells her to give him a chance.

Ellie tells her about Sean getting arrested, and how she is not sure to believe him when he says he plans to turn his life around. Ashley tells her to give him a chance.

Later at the garage, Sean tries to cool things down with Sean, as he knows he was just in a bad mood. But Sean appears to still be in a bad mood, and doesn't want to talk. Jay asks Sean if this was about what he said about Sean running back to Wasaga, in which Sean angrily states that nobody seems to get how hard it was for him, and that the shooting still haunts him. Jay tells him he needs to let it go, but Sean tells him he won't. The next morning, Sean is back at the Dot, sitting by himself by the counter looking lost in thought. He prepares to leave when Ellie walks in. Sean apologizes to her for not seeming very grateful for her helping him, and tells her about his fight with Jay and starting to feel guilty about it. Sean decides to go back to the garage and reconcile. When he finds out Jay is not there, he decides to go down to the ravine to look for him. Once there, he sees Jay come out of a van, drunk. Jay runs up clumsily hugs Sean, and offers him the beer in his hand. Sean refuses it, but then several other people around the ravine recognize Sean and start "welcoming" him back, all of which are either drunk or high. One scantily clad girl goes up to him, asking him if he remembers her, which he doesn't. When she locks her lips with his, Sean almost gives into it. But then he pulls away. Jay tells him to sit down and relax with old friends. Sean tells him he hasn't been into this stuff for a long time. Jay begins to taunt him about being a wuse again. Sean angrily shoves Jay, but Jay shoves back and starts lashing about what he has been going through ever since Sean decided to bail. He goes back into the van and Sean takes off.

The next morning, Sean meets Ellie at her house, and they talk about what happened. Ellie offers him a place to stay with her until things with Jay cool down, but Sean says he thinks now that they have gotten stuff off their chest they will be okay. He tells her how being at the ravine topped with the whole street racing incident just reminded him of why he wanted to be better. Ellie informs Sean that the guy she knew was already better. She tells Sean that she wants to be there for him as his friend, if he's willing to accept it. Sean says he is.

Sean and Ellie have gradually become closer over the last few weeks, and they hang out at her and Marco’s a lot. They act like close friends, but there is a noticeable tension that they try to pretend isn’t there. At school, Sean and Ms. Kwan talk about how he’s adjusting since coming back from Degrassi. Sean tells her that Ellie insisted on helping him with homework if he needs it, so he’s going to try and work as hard as he can so she won’t have to. Ms. Kwan is glad to hear that. Later, while Sean is in the hallway on his way to the washroom, he finds himself having haunting flashbacks when he reaches the spot where he and Rick struggled with the gun. He rushes off to the opposite direction, bumping into Mr. Simpson in the process who was approaching from behind. Mr. Simpson notices that Sean looks upset and calls out to him, but Sean doesn’t turn around and walks straight into the boy’s washroom to contain himself from falling apart. During Media Immersions, Sean has a hard time concentrating, in which Mr. Simpson notices. Once class is over, Mr. Simpson approaches him and asks him if he was okay. Sean tells him he’s fine, but Mr. Simpson notes that he noticed Sean was standing in the exact spot that Rick was killed. He tells Sean that maybe he needs to talk to someone, like Ms. Sauvé. But Sean turns down the idea.

That night, Ellie invites Sean to come over for dinner, as Marco is out with Dylan and she doesn’t want to cook for just herself. Sean accepts, and pretends to like what she cooks. He asks her how her classes are going, and after getting into how stressful it is, she asks him about school in return. Sean tells her it has been good, but Ellie notices his answer sounds uncertain. After hesitating for a moment, Sean tells her about what happened the day, remembering shooting Rick and then Mr. Simpson suggesting he see Ms. Sauvé about it. Ellie points out the déj * vu, and asks him what he thinks he should do. But Sean just doesn’t think that counseling sessions just aren’t his thing. Ellie reminds him that she used to feel the exact same way. The next morning, Sean hesitantly makes a drop in visit to Ms. Sauvé’s office. She asks him if he wants to talk now, in which he states he just wants to get it over with. The session starts with Ms. Sauve asking the inevitable question, how he feels being back after the shooting. As the session goes on, as Sean gives short answers to all of her questions and can’t express his feelings. He finally feels stupid and storms out.

Back at Ellie’s that night, Sean tells Ellie about what an idiot he was dropping in there. Ellie tells Sean she knows where he’s coming from and doesn’t blame him. Sean looks at Ellie and asks her how she overcame it, and Ellie tells him it took time. After a moment of silence, Sean tells Ellie that’s he’s very grateful to have her right now, as he feels he may have come back to Degrassi a little in over his head. The next day after school, Sean approaches Mr. Simpson and tells him that he is prepared to make more visits to Ms. Sauvé, even though he knows it’ll take some getting used to. Mr. Simpson is happy to hear this. He asks Sean is he’s with Ellie again, in which Sean tells him not exactly. Mr. Simpson tells him that he has always thought she was good for him. Sean finds Ellie waiting outside. She asks him how his second session with Ms. Sauvé went, and Sean tells her he’s taking it slow. Ellie tells Sean that she doesn’t want to be Sean’s savior, she wants to be his equal, someone he can always talk to about anything. Sean asks her if she’s sure that’s all she wants. In which Ellie leans in and kisses him. Sean tells her that’s what he wants, too.

What's It Feel Like To Be A Ghost Part 1

Craig Manning is back in town. His friends are excited to hear about his music career and Manny is eager to resume her role as his girlfriend. Sean is first to learn that more is going on with his old friend than he is letting on when Craig insists that they make a stop at a "friend's" house for some party supplies. Craig makes an attempt to remain casual about his cocaine usage but can’t help but feel flustered and defensive when Sean is obviously not comfortable with the situation.

Craig feels that old spark returning with Manny despite their lack of contact over the past few months. Manny, however, can’t help but want to bridge the gap that’s slowly been building and in a lapse of judgment, feels that using drugs with Craig will help bring her closer to him and further into his world of friends and music. The couple attends the dinner party at Marco and Ellie's intoxicated. Once sober and seeing Craig with fresh eyes, Manny breaks up with him. When Ellie discovers Craig's cocaine, he sees no harm in blaming his ex. Ellie complains to her boyfriend about Craig's dinner guest bringing drugs into her house and Sean clues her in.

Ellie feels helpless and concerned for her friend and tags along with Craig to his stepfather’s house to help prepare for his move. Sober, moody, and itching for a high, Craig finds himself confessing that things aren't going so well in Vancouver. It's harder to get his foot in the door than he thought and even more difficult to make friends. Ellie tries to lift his spirits and in an effort to help him out, she lets him tag along at an interview with the band Taking Back Sunday so he can network.

"Well, it must be easier to see Joey now, since he's closer and all," Ellie says as she watches Craig pack another box.

"I don't really see him that much," Craig says and pauses to stare off. He couldn't see Joey lately. Then Joey would know he'd been right about Vancouver. He should have stayed here in Toronto and graduated high school instead of playing back up for a crappy band and picking up their coke habit as well.

"You'll have to keep coming back here, you know. Thrill us with your presence," Ellie encourages and hopes her tone isn't too forced. She is trying to be optimistic around her moody friend.

"Right. Like you'll all still be around. Manny's already proved how quickly everyone bolts," Craig declares as he forcefully sets down another box. He hoped it wasn't apparent how badly his hands were shaking.

"Maybe you should ease up on the drugs, before you lose everything you have. Sean told me about the drug run you took yesterday. I know the coke is yours."

Craig sighs and remains silent for a few moments. "What is there to lose when you don't have much to begin with?" he finally says.

"What about your music? If you spend all your time and money on drugs..."

"It never really took off okay? It's harder than I thought it would be and I really don't want to talk about how I'm playing back up with people I don't even know and it's music that I don't even like."

"Well, we all have to start somewhere. I'm less than thrilled with the crap my editor assigns me sometimes. It's even worse when he bumps me off a really great story," Ellie said and then snapped her fingers. "I'm interviewing the band Taking Back Sunday today. Come along, network. Maybe you can land a gig as their opening act. I know the band that was going to open flaked out on them."

Craig agrees and accompanies Ellie to the interview, even though he'd much rather pay a visit to his drug dealer. He can't help but worry what happens when he runs out of cocaine. Craig manages to sneak away to do a few lines and his buzz is heightened when he lands a gig as their opening act at a local club. His rehearsal gig goes smoothly and afterwards, Craig encourages his friends to head out to celebrate with him at a club.

What's It Feel Like To Be A Ghost Part 2

The party atmosphere of the club makes it easy for Craig to fall into the old pattern of drug use and he finds it difficult to stop once he’s started. Things start with repeated trips to the bathroom and shaky hands and quickly escalate to flippant remarks to his closest friends. The evening on the town ends when Craig makes an attempt to start a fight with another club goer and the altercation results in Spinner stepping in and getting punched.

The gang is anxious to separate themselves from Craig once they arrive at Ellie and Marco’s. With everyone in bed and Craig alone with himself, he can’t help but keep using. The drugs, combined with lack of sleep, result in a spectacular panic attack that leaves Sean and Ellie wondering if a trip to the emergency room is in store. Craig is talked down and finally collapses into sleep. When he awakens the next morning, the first thing he does is snort more drugs. It’s obvious to his friends that he’s in need of help and they decide to confront Craig about his behavior.

"Whoa, what happened to you?" Craig askes Spinner, who had a nice shiner on his right eye. "I guess I'm not the only one who got crazy last night."

"You don't remember? I stepped in and got decked because you started something with a guy that would've kicked your face in," Spinner explains.

"Do you really not remember, Craig?" Ellie askes.

Craig doesn't reply. "Man, if you can't stop and keep going until you think that you oded..." Sean said.

"That was just some anxiety attack. I'm stressed about the gig with Taking Back Sunday tonight," Craig explains.

"That is not what's going on," Sean says

"Then what is going on?" Ellie presses. "I don't know if you think this is helping you or what but it's not. You crash when this is all over. Are you aware of your moods?"

"Are you my shrink or what?" Craig snaps. "What do you want me to say? That there's some big reason for all this? What if there isn't? What if it just happened?"

"Craig, you are doing cocaine. People who abuse drugs aren't happy people. What's going?" Ellie says.

Unfortunately, the confrontation is poorly planned and Craig takes control of the situation. He brushes off the encouragement to get help and says he’ll stop by group and then he has to go ahead with his performance. Craig’s a no-show at group therapy. Everyone is there to watch him hit bottom as he gets a bloody nose on stage and cannot finish his set because he's too high. The episode concludes with Sean and Ellie waiting with Craig at the airport. He's heading home to Joey, who's been informed of the situation, and going into a rehab facility.

Love My Way

Ellie Nash is feeling the freedom and the strain of university life. In fact if it weren’t for the fact that her boyfriend Sean Cameron is finishing off his 12th year at Degrassi, high school might be a distant memory. Ellie is enjoying working on the campus newspaper, although it has been proven to be difficult to be respected (her editor has even annoyingly dubbed her “frosh,” as if that were some reminder of her rank in the office). The workload of her classes is a bit of a drag and she’s already feeling the pressure of her major but to date, Ellie has felt like she can deal. Currently her living situation is a full house and she’s beginning to wonder if the dorm on campus would give her some peace and quiet. The gang’s pad is full of love life drama and the stresses of university.

Ellie can't help but feel like she's being overlooked at home with her dramatic roommates and also on the job with the newspaper editor piling on stories and taking credit for her stunning article on the stabbing of Degrassi student JT Yorke. She arrives home after a long day wondering how and who to address her work problems with but is only greeted with a sarcastic and frantic Paige and Marco rushing off.

At least she’s got her steady boyfriend, although he’s been feeling less than rock solid lately since returning to Degrassi, or the scene of the crime as he sarcastically calls (Ellie knows this is code for “That whole shooting? Yeah, it still kind of bugs”). Sean attends a family dinner with Ellie and all in all, it seems to go well. Ellie still feels that twinge of worry whenever she’s around her mother and the house she grew up in can’t help but stir up old memories, as well as some new doubts.

“Your dad, he’s a good cook,” comments Sean as he looks around at what was left of Ellie’s old room. He’d only been there a few times back when they started dating the first time, but never stayed there too long. Ellie, back then especially, wasn’t fond of extended visits to her home due to her mother’s ongoing condition.

“Yeah, he learned to cook in the Army actually…” she responds, but is seemingly distracted by something else.

“And your mom…” Sean doesn’t finish that statement, as he was more hoping that by the time he had gotten it out he would have something more encouraging to say.

“You can say it Sean. I know you’re thinking it,” Ellie begins, shaking her head at the thought of her mother at the dinner table earlier, “she’s really good at it, y’know? Putting up an act? It’s what she does when she knows ‘other people’ are watching. Pretends everything’s perfect…everything’s ‘cool,’ we’re ‘fine.’ One big happy family.”

“Putting on a show… Yeah, my parents know a thing or two about that.”

“Funny thing is, she’s not even that good at it sometimes. I just hate having to constantly watch her, and worry that she’ll slip and something’ll happen to her again… get hurt, or hurt someone else… or…” Ellie sighs for a moment and looks back at Sean. “I just don’t want to end up like her.”

“You won’t—“

“Really? People say that it’s inevitable; we grow up to be like our parents. It just happens. And then what, huh? My kid has to live with this constant worry? About me?”

“El, don’t worry, you’ll do better. You’re not your mom,” Sean assures her, grabbing a hold of her hand.

“You can’t help it, it just happens,” she says, looking past him to the calendar on the wall behind him. The sudden realization of the day hit her with an unexpected blow. She looks down at her hand still intertwined with Sean’s. “Whether you’re ready for it or not…”

It was in this rare moment where things are slow enough for her to think that she realizes that her period is late. It’s been fairly easy to avoid thinking about her late period, since time has a tendency to slip by so quickly with her busy lifestyle and she knows that she and Sean take the proper precautions. El's convinced that it must be stress related, but since she is sexually active now she has to be sure. Her world feels like it’s crashing down on her as her pregnancy test results come back positive. If she's pregnant, her and Sean's lives have just changed dramatically and Ellie can't help but fear that it's for the worst.

Don't You Want Me?

Ellie can’t help but try to distance herself from Sean, physically and emotionally. She can feel herself falling into old patterns but when things get tough she wants to close herself off and shut down. While she knows that it’s not the most responsible decision, she just can’t get herself to make a doctor’s appointment to confirm that she is indeed pregnant. She can’t get herself to tell Sean about her worst fears either. She makes an attempt but all that amounts is concerned or confused gazes from Sean. The further Ellie pushes Sean away, the further she dives into her school work and newspaper assignments. Ellie refuses to lose control but feels herself slipping as she internalizes too much and begins to crave a release, the kind of release she used to achieve through self injury.

Things feel normal when Ellie is in Sean’s arms. She feels safe and in control. And she lets herself go, her guard down and forgets about it all…including her recent scars from cutting. She’d been trying to keep it a secret, wearing long sleeve shirts and refusing to dress when Sean’s around. She had even created a new hiding spot for the supplies she uses to cut and treat her wounds. Her secret is blown when Sean sees her scars during a heavy make out session.

He lifts her long sleeved shirt over her head and tosses it to the side, more interested in continuing to kiss Ellie than being concerned as to where any of their miscellaneous items of clothing landed. Their bodies hit the bed as Sean’s kisses travel down to the nape of Elle’s neck and find themselves focused there while his hands make their way to her own.

Sean stops for a moment when he feels a slight wince from the girl underneath him and looks over at him arm seeing very new cuts. “El…” he says softly, shifting over to the other side of the bed, and looking at her. She doesn’t look at him as he continues, “I thought… I thought you stopped cutting.”

“It’s just…”

“Is something going on? Is it your mom, is she drinking again? School? What?” Sean searches for answers only to see her continuously shake her head at him. “Is it… is it that editor guy? He giving you a hard time?”

“No… it’s not that… it’s not him. It’s… there’s a lot going on right now… to deal with.” She seems like there’s more she wants to say, which he can tell, but is afraid to let out.

“And I’m here, you can talk to me,” he insists. “I just wanna help.”

“I’m… fine…” she lies, words stumbling out of her mouth. She turns to face him, tears forming in her eyes as she tries to silently convey the words that won’t come to her, and says nothing.

“Ellie…”

“I’m pregnant,” she finally admits.

“Are you sure? Did you take a test?” Sean asks.

She nods her head softly. “Came out positive… two pink lines…”

He now realizes that the situation is a lot realer than he thought. After allowing himself a moment to register everything, Sean takes a deep breath. “Well… we’ll take you to a doctor’s and figure this all out El… I’m here, everything’s going to be okay…”

Ellie’s head falls on his shoulders as she takes his words in and wonders how she could handle motherhood, if it all, without turning into her worst fear…

Sean accompanies Ellie to her doctor’s appointment. They both know they have to face reality. The tension mounts but by the end of the appointment, they are given good news. They are not pregnant. Ellie’s missed period was likely the result of stress and the pregnancy test was faulty. A talk on the importance of safe sex follow and the awkwardness increases as the doctor voices his concern about the cuts on her forearm. Ellie reassures that she has the problem under control. It was just a slip.

In the clinic hall, Ellie is hit with a whirl wild of emotions. She can’t help but shed tears of relief, confusion, and the guilt of having slipped into the habit of cutting. Sean does his best to comfort his girlfriend, reassuring that they are in this together and while he’s happy with the news that she’s not pregnant, he would have made life the best for Ellie and their child because he loves her. He would have been a better parent than his and he’s 100% sure Ellie would do the same. They may not be ready for a child now, but when the day does come, he’s sure that they will do a great job loving their child. Ellie is touched by this moment that reflects that Sean is with her for the long haul.

Ellie is in need of some serious R&R and can’t wait until midterms are over and it’s holiday break. After a serious cuddle session on the couch, Sean suggests that they hit the winter formal at Degrassi tomorrow night – she could use some fun. The couple recalls the end of the year dance in grade 10 and how they are finishing out their last year of high school and first year of university together. It won’t be the last year of Sean and Ellie.

Saturday Detention Never Dies:
The Breakfast Club and Take On Me

http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...cbanner2-1.jpg

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...tbcbanner2.gif

"Before the day was over, they broke the rules, bared their souls,
and touched each other in a way they never dreamed possible."

http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...OM/message.jpg
The message of The Breakfast Club and Take On Me

The Breakfast Club is often referred to as the quintessential movie of the 1980s which defined and entire generation and garnered a cult following. Five students from different social background spend a day of Saturday detention breaking barriers, and possibly even, changing each other’s lives. The brain, the jock, the princess, the rebel, and the basketcase all learn that despite their social differences in school each faced certain pressures in various degrees from their parents and even fellow peers. What started off as a seemingly boring Saturday spent with strangers turns out to be one full of fun, mischief, and overall a common understanding for their fellow classmate, who were more than their social rank.

With Take on Me, we were introduced to a similar concept of five kids spending their Saturday morning stuck in detention. Like its predecessor, each is from different social circles, attached to their own individual labels. But, the message of the 80’s original was best exemplified through Sean and Ellie. What was an exchange between five strangers on their way to getting to know each other in the original, was portrayed through two misunderstood teenagers in the Canadian television show’s remake. Ellie was “a freak” or “the basketcase” while Sean was “a rebel”: the two were often written off by others because of various rumors. Once on the roof, the two formed a genuine connection, looking past what others thought about them and getting to know the real person inside.

http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...C%20TOM/bs.jpg
The Criminal

Both Sean Cameron and John Bender follow the classic bad boy formula. They use their tough boy exterior to hide any vulnerability that they have underneath. In Bender’s case, a violent home life hardened him and he quickly became distrustful and used sarcasm in nearly every situation. He’ll openly seem like a violent person, such as the instance when he pulled a knife on Andrew, but never follows through with any threats. He’ll even instigate arguments with authority figure Vernon, but in a heartbreaking scene we see how a younger Bender probably was at home; still and watchful, waiting for the elder man to strike him. Bender is no different than the rest of us, he just copes with his world the only way he knows how.

Just like Bender, Sean rolls with a crowd that probably intimidates many of the cliques as school. Sean’s got a reputation of being a thief who is more likely to send out a message with his fists than his brain. His home situation is a bit different than Bender’s; Sean lives with his brother because his parents were drunks. Everyone seems to think of Sean as the typical bad boy. Then he met Ellie Nash; the girl who just takes him as is.

The Basketcase

Ellie Nash and Allison Reynolds both come from households where they can feel neglected and would probably be described as “weird” by their peers. Quiet and quirky, people find it hard to get close to Allison. “I can't believe you, you're so weird. You don't say anything all day and then when you open your mouth... you unload all these tremendous lies all over me!” Claire exclaims at Allison when the “basket case” gets Claire to confess that she’s still a virgin. She’s not about manipulation however; she digs for the truth but is quick to reassure that what she found isn’t that strange. Allison finds it hard to trust others, even though she is eager to love. By the end of the day, her fellow detention servers have learned that they are no stranger than her.

Ellie Nash has a different kind of weirdness that pushes people away. Her sarcasm can be intimidating for some. But underneath her punky clothes and tough persona is a vulnerable girl. She might pretend like she doesn’t hear the rumors circulating about her self injury and she won’t admit to just anyone that it hurts her just like it would anyone else. Her vulnerability is evident on the rooftop with Sean when she just has to make sure that she doesn’t freak him out. She finds comfort in the fact that he doesn’t…and he doesn’t scare her either.

Copycat: More Comparisons
Bad boys Bender and Sean both have distaste for authority, something that probably was reinforced throughout their lives as they both grew up in unstable households. While Bender grew up with violence, it seems Sean grew up with alcoholics who left him to his own devices and didn’t involve themselves unless he got in trouble with school or the law. It is likely that both feel judged or labeled by their respective principal and see no harm dishing out rude remarks and force an act where they seem proud of their antisocial behavior. Bender and Sean are both disgusted by the way popular cliques force kids like Claire, Andrew, Jimmy, and Hazel to act. While the “athletes” and the “princesses” claim there are rules, Bender and Sean say break them. They both have little tolerance for acting a way to earn praise from their peers. While some might find them calling out their peers as harsh, Bender and Sean both feel they are just being honest. As detention progresses, we find the criminals softening some and letting their guard down. Bender, who broke down in a rage earlier when Andrew refused to believe his father was violent with him, showed understanding as Andrew confessed the pressure his father put on him. He even remarks, “Your old man and my old man should go bowling.” Some level of understanding has been reached between the two boys and the same happens between long time rivals Jimmy and Sean. While time doesn’t allow for this to be developed much, it is enjoyable to see Jimmy refusing to let Sean be busted by Raditch when the gang sneaks out to roam the school hallways.

Weird girls Allison and Ellie are very observant of their environment and see no harm in telling it like it is. While they might appear a bit standoffish to their peers, they are in fact very caring girls. Both are hesitant to trust, even though they are craving affection to make up for distant parents. Both assume that there are ulterior motives to others actions. Allison wonders of Claire, “Why are you being so nice to me?” Ellie is weary of Sean paying attention to her and brings up the rumors that are circulating about her. She seems a little surprised when he “isn’t freaked” by her. She went searching for the scoop on thefts the boys was committing but she found more the truth: she found a boy who is caring and non-judgmental. When it comes to digging for the truth, they seem more interested in their female detention companion. Allison goes for Claire, creating a story to trick Claire into admitting she’s a virgin. Ellie Nash invests her energy into investigating just what popular girl Hazel is doing in detention. The girls all end up bonding some, or at least coming to some understanding. “She’s nuts but she’s cool,” Claire says about Allison. “You’re pretty cool Ms. Nash,” Hazel approves of punk girl Ellie.

Shattering Stereotypes: Degrassi's Mixing of the Couples

Take on Me was able to do something that The Breakfast Club couldn’t, which was with the mixing of the couples, pairing the kids up with someone who truly understood who they were as people. Instead on Bender/Claire and Allison/Andy, we end up with Sean/Ellie and Jimmy/Hazel, two pairs that are much better suited for each other and share a lot of common ground already, which was soon discovered during the episode. Degrassi chose to go beyond the often popular “opposites attract” formula and base the kids’ relationships on who connected and were better fits for each other: couples that make sense.

In the original TBC, Allison, who was made over by popular girl Claire, suddenly becomes jock Andy’s object of affection after a sudden taming of her once trademark look. He became attracted to her after her makeover, while she went for the first boy who paid attention to her, because as she mentions, she doesn’t “want to be alone anymore.”. On the other end we had Claire, who liked the thought of rebelling and dating a “bad boy” like Bender to drive her parents crazy, while Bender enjoyed chasing after a “good girl” and was turned on by the thought of claiming “virgin territory.” Neither of these couples discovered more to each other as a couple or connected on an emotional level. They did not get together because they saw more to each other, but because they became attracted to who they saw on the outside. So where the movie dropped the ball, Degrassi, and more importantly, Sean and Ellie, picked it up.

http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...astforever.jpg
The Outcasts Forever

“You know, Bender...you don't even count. I mean if you disappeared forever it wouldn't make any difference. You may as well not even exist at this school,” popular jock Andrew remarks. For a moment, you can see emotion on Bender’s face. He even exchanges a glance with fellow outcast Allison. Both know how it feels to be overlooked in the school environment because it’s been predetermined that you won’t amount to much or at home, in Allison’s case. Sean and Ellie probably would share the same look if popular jock Jimmy informed them of their rank in school. But you know they wouldn’t let him know that he got to them.

Kids like Bender, Sean, Allison, and Ellie know not to reveal all your cards. Emotions get hurt much too easily that way. That doesn’t mean that they don’t notice each other or the feelings aren’t there. “I’ve seen you before,” Bender says and gestures to Allison. Sean also demonstrates that he had noticed Ellie before when he confesses that he’s hear the gossip about her cutting.

There was a lot of personal attacks in both Saturday detentions but which characters never exchanged harsh blows? Outcasts Bender, Sean, Allison, and Ellie. Some level of understanding exists between them and they don’t feel a need to bring each other down. They are different enough to have misconceptions about each other but similar enough to see where the other is coming from. And it is apparent that the four are quick to see through their peers and bring out the truth. While they use badgering to bring out truths like Brian and Claire’s virginity and the real reason Hazel is in detention, they are more gentle with each other. We never got to see this with Bender and Allison but thanks to Take On Me, they can live vicariously through Sean and Ellie. Sean is tender with Ellie as she reveals that the rumors about her cutting are true. She shows him her scars as if to warn him that she’s damaged. He doesn’t care about that. It makes sense. He trusts her enough to confess that he’s a thief. Ellie’s got her story for the school newspaper with that confession. But at the end of the day, she knows that he’s more than a thief and refuses to run the story. Tough Sean surprises us all with a tender moment of handholding and we see trust is built between the two.

Opposites don’t always attract. Sometimes the mix is downright wrong. If you can feel safe with someone who is somewhat like you, why fight it?

Take On Me

that's how it was with Sean. everyone just wrote him off as some kind of loser thug who was held back a year, meaning he's also stupid. funny how people also write me off as some kind of screwed up punker with psychological problems. not everyone, but that's because the people who know me know it's not as simple as that. that's how it is with Sean. once you know something about someone...like why they do the things they do...it's not as easy to write them off.

Ellie

I owe Ellie big time. she's different form the Amys and Emmas of the world. There's a lot going on in that head of hers. She's got issues. Who cares? Who doesn't? She's trying to figure things out in life. Who's not? I am. Even though we're both hard cases, we don't freak each other out. I think I get her. I like her.

Whatever...back to the point. I also owe her. She could have brought me down. I told her about something stupid I did. Wish I could undo it, but there you go. That's life. So not only did I tell her - she had it on tape. She wanted a good story for her reporter (or whatever it is) co-op job. About things going "missing" at Degrassi. She wasn't out to get me but still - even though she wasn't naming names I couldn't have that tape lying around. My voice on it - It had to go. So, she gave it to me. Now it's gone. That's someone you can trust.

That's someone you want to be around.

Sean

All of the things that I want to say
just aren't coming out right
I'm tripping on words
You've got my head spinning
I don't know where to go from here

Don't Dream It's Over

whatev-- it's cool that sean and i managed to talk about that stupidness and work things out, because at first we pretty much broke up (broke up! i can't believe i'm using this terminology) over the whole marco misunderstanding.

ed. note - Sean kissed Ellie.

HEY!! none of your business!

believe it or not, sean makes me blush. thus the thick layer coverup i’m wearing on my face these days. we’re so great together it makes me want to puke. when did i turn into such a girl. i hate me!!

Summer of 2004

No AC, a poem

Solar summer, shining bright
Oppressive heat, burning light
Applying creams to block your rays
From spring to fall, I count the days.

Beneath a shade on Sean's back porch
I hide from thee, lest I be scorch'd
Chez moi, my mother drowns the torch

Cool family home, acclimatized
Can't pry me from my boyfriend's side
For here is where you'll oft find me
Despite the heat, and no AC.

boring, boring freedom

Been a while since I updated this thing I guess. Sorry. Not like I had better things to do. Started off the summer with project Simpson. Had to get his car back on the road. A little car-repair-for-laptop exchange. Either that or go to jail. No brainer. Wasn't hard - picked up a tranny at the scrap yard, dropped it in. Nice thing about old, lo-tech american cars. Usually doesn't take much to fix 'em if you have the parts.
Managed to stay on this side of good. Good enough to keep up the student welfare. Made a few bucks on the side too. I think I mentioned about Tracker's buddy? Still, after rent it's not enough to get in trouble, never mind have fun. Those street kids, panhandling to make up the difference, maybe score enough to get wasted or messed-up on something else...not for me. Never could see the point in that. At least Ellie doesn't mind just hanging out here. Sometimes she brings food, sneaks it away from her house. Easiest way to a guy's heart is via his stomach. Wasn't all just watching the grass grow. Had a few kickin' parties. Jay was like a broken record every Friday. "Let's get the word out! Come on, Sean, we need to party! Your house is the only place!" Thanks, buddy. Nothing against ragin' with a bunch of people...but where is everybody the next day? Shouldn't just be me and Ellie cleaning up every time. My place is in rough enough shape as it is. Maybe Dr. Feelgood Jay will get off my back once school starts.

the words, 'move in'?" -Ellie

{Anywhere I Lay My Head}

Anywhere I Lay My Head

Hey. Back to doing the journal-thing. School, student welfare and all that - so far so good I guess. Still just getting by though. Barely. Good thing Ellie spends most of her free time here. It'd be mass boring here otherwise. Can't afford any fun. Watching TV alone... wondering if I should try something. Maybe see if I can get a live-in girlfriend/roommate situation happening. Bet it would do Ellie good. Get away from her lush mom-type person. El's mom's a real gem -- kinda like mine -- wants her home no later than 11 every night. Just in time for Ellie to see her pass out almost every night. That's no good. At least El's snapping elastics instead of the other thing. Man it's weird. A guy like me has a better home sitch than an old mom. Crazy. So I'm thinking of getting her out of there.

Sean

http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...0/arts/SE2.png

my dad's never home...my mom's always drinking...i have to keep snapping elastics on my wrists to keep from cutting...my mom passes out...the kitchen catches fire...i burn my hand...my mom makes a complete embarrassment of herself...and of me...at the school open house...where she slapped my boyfriend who was trying to stand up for me...and i JUST CAN'T TAKE IT ANY MORE!!!!!
i need to be away from my mom. i love her but i need to be away from the danger even though i just wish i could help her. but i can't. i've been trying but almost every night it's the same thing. come home, get yelled at for being at Sean's too late, watch her cry about how nothing is going right for her, then she passes out and i have to clean up her mess or else she forgets about it and blames me for it in the morning.
so there's no way i'm going to go with my mom to my aunt's house in Fergus until they repair the fire damage to our house. it's like an hour and a half outside the city and i'd have to get up at 5:00 or some unholy hour to get to school on time. plus, it would just be seeing my mom get drunk and complain about how nothing goes her way surrounded by different walls.
so...i decided to move in with someone who is responsible. which, believe it or not is my boyfriend. sean has really come a long way since i first met him a couple of years ago and he has totally dropped the tough-guy thing that kept getting him in trouble. now i realize that we have a lot in common -- starting with parents who drink too much. the reason he lives on his own is the same reason i have to move in with him. plus i can see his true nature. sure he's done some stupid things before, but he regrets every one of them - especially the Mr. Simpson computer thing - and i can see that he has a sweet, caring side that most stupid guys are too afraid to show. but i can also see that sometimes he's scared...about life...about the future...about what is going to happen to him.
just like i'm scared about those things myself.
and it's only when i'm curled up next to him on the couch with our new little pet ferret that i can forget about all that stuff. i don't know what's going to happen living together but all i can do is hope.

Ellie

I'm sittin' here tryin' to convince myself
that you're not the one for me
But the more I think, the less I believe it
and the more I want you here with me

Back in Back

i know i'm supposed to be supportive of the person i love and to try to understand why he does the things he does especially now that he's been through a horrifyingly brutal ordeal at school, seeing a kid get shot and die right in front of his face, and i know i'm supposed to just want the best for him because that's what people do when they love and care about each other and all that BUT i also can't help the way i feel right now which is all discombobulated and annoyed and just plain mad that sean has decided to move back to wasaga beach with his dumb parents who basically left him to fend for himself when he was like 13 or something because they always drank their paychecks before they could buy stuff for their kids like food and clothes and now i'm left here to take care of the apartment and bueller and try to pay rent all by myself without anyone to be with right now when things are really screwed up at school and with my other friends because of some total psycho's great idea to bring a gun to school...ok take a breath...breathe...breathe...aw nevermind...how could he do this? if he needs to talk to someone, if he needs someone to listen to him and try to help him deal with his emotions, which he has never been good at doing (join the club!) i'm RIGHT HERE! why not lean on the person who actually cares rather than some neglectful parents who turned their backs on you years ago???? ok i know that maybe i'm not the best person to help someone deal with their emotional issues and, traumatic sorts of things like sean has to deal with...but i know i can help a little bit. there are people here, at school, in our city, as in NEARBY who can totally help someone going through the things sean is...and he could still live here with me...

so...that's why even though i should be supportive and everything i still feel rejected. like i wasn't enough to keep sean from running back to wasaga trailer hell. why...

Hey from a net cafe in WB. Parents still live in some other century. Never heard of the internet. Gotta walk downtown, if you could call it that, just to check email. Probably won't very often.

So it all came out. Guess I couldn't keep it in any more. Thought everything was fine after all the hero business. Me, the big star who saved everyone's life. Yeah right. I was scared. When it all came out...all the bottled up feelings and crap...man it was heavy. No wonder the old instinct is to keep it bottled up. It's freaky when you can't hold it any longer. Too freaky.

Thing is, if I stayed in T.O. it might come out all over the place. Be a big mess. So...gotta get away from all that. From the reporters, the school, the bad memories, the hallway where Rick...did what he did. Away from things that make me wonder how, why, he took the bullet and not me. Both of our hands on the gun. All I know is that I never wanted that trigger to get pulled. Somehow it did. Then I felt the blood running. Now I can't go back there, where it happened. Don't need those reminders.

Also can't go back to Ellie. Not that I don't want to. It's just she's there and I'm here. Wish it was different. Wish none of this ever happened. Wish we could both move to Tahiti. Maybe in 10 years...

Not even sure if it's gonna be any better here with the parental headcases. Might take some work on that front. At least being here...might give me a chance to figure some things out. Maybe go back to T.O. in a while. Maybe stay here. Maybe go somewhere else. Not sure how long it'll take.

bye

Ellie: It's guacamole! Sean made
it for me. It's my favorite. He's sweet.

{Anywhere I Lay My Head}

Sellie: a Fan's testimonial

Though I'll explain it for you, again. Entertainment aside and "destined" talk aside, just read this with those out of mind. Sellie had what every relationship should have but doesn't; Sellie had stability, maturity, trust, respect, contentment, equality, and genuine, bare feelings for each other. Want me to explicitly explain all of this? Okay, I will. Here I go:

Stability: Sean and Ellie were never a dramatic couple; they never had angsty, dramatic break ups where they would go on with personal digs or insults. They were a stable couple, because they discussed their problems whenever one would arise (Don't Dream It's Over, locker scene). They were incredibly stable, more stable than pretty much every other couple on the show, and this is showcased whenever something that could have shook up their relationship happened (Sean moving out on his own in Our House, Ellie's house catching fire in Anywhere I Lay My Head). Throughout everything they remained stable.

Maturity: There are not many adult couples that are ready to step up to the plate of living together and alone. Plenty of relationships have been torn apart because of this major, relationship-changing move. Imagine teenagers. I'd say almost every teenage relationship is not mature or ready enough to live together. Sellie proved their maturity by being able to peacefully live together and alone (Anywhere I Lay My Head). They proved their maturity by calmly sorting through any issue brought up (Don't Dream It's Over, Anywhere I Lay My Head again). They never needed drama like cheating or the temptation to cheat to make them interesting...
