I saw this thread appear on another forum and I thought that it would be a good topic to bring up/discuss.

We are now approaching the 4th season of Degrassi. We've met Spinner's adopted sister, gotten to know Toby's bickering parents, found out that Ashley's dad was gay, actually seen the brother that Paige spoke off in Season 1 or 2 come to a realization, and we're even meeting Liberty's dad and brother. We're also, most likely, going to finally see Sean's parents since he goes back to Wasaga Beach where his parents reside.

So with all that, we haven't heard ANYTHING about poor JT's parents or relatives or the whatnot. From what I rememeber:

- Both of them are alcoholics.
- His mom is a seamstress.
- He saw his grandma naked.
- He possibly has a sister.
- He bought Extasy from his cousin.
- He lives in an apartment.

To me, this doesn't seem to be like the most "uplifting" household, but I think it's a shame that it hasn't been explored much at all. Well, I'm actually more sad that his character hasn't been explored much at all, but that's another thread.

Any thoughts or speculation into the possiblity that might be JT's homelife, if he even has one at all....

I wish they went into his homelife more too. I knew his Mom was a seamstress, and he lives in an apartment, but I didn't know his parents were alcoholics. Sad... no wonder the kid makes so many jokes.

Yeah, I think it's from season 4.

But to answer your very interesting question, JibertyManiac, I agree that J.T. doesn't have a traditional, or uplifting household. I always got the impression that he's a latchkey kid with an older sister and mother who are never there. I imagine his mom works for a theater as a seamstress (which has odd hours), and his dad is in and out of the apartment, always busy like Jimmy's parents. I actually hope he and Jimmy bond because of this. He skates/scooters to school so I'm thinking he's fairly independent, and he seems to like the attention he probably doesn't get from home.

i was hoping something would happen to Jt this season. i know a topic they didnt really do on degrassi was dealing parents getting a divorce. (im not talking about the way they did it with toby, they need to have a teen dealing with their parents always fighting all the time and dealing with them getting seperated) i was hoping they would do something like that with JT. because for 1) we never saw his parents or never really hear of them and 2) nothing major ever happened to him besides him crushing on a teacher. come on now! we need something better then that! so like i said, i think that would be a good idea for JT, and i could definality see manny being there for him and they get closer.

i forgot to mention that they talked about his cousin twice in season1. he got the list of porn sites from him as well as the extacy!

Good idea, LidelKewte! That's true. They've done the death of a parent, but not really the divorce. We only get to see how stepfathers affect the family (Snake). I think it'd be interesting, because J.T.'s an interesting character.

J.T.'s cousin sounds bad! He's more of a troublemaker than Jay!

yea, i mean we've seen jt's grandma and hes spoke of his mom but we've never actually seen his mom or his sister that he spoke of. I thought that he lived with his mom and his grandma, but wouldnt his grandma have told his mom about him and liberty's situation, or wouldnt his mom be the first one he told?

i hope to see about Jt's homelife, i'd like to know why he's living with his grandma and where his mom and sister are.

JT's grandma in S5 was so random. I liked her and all, it was just weird that that he spoke of his mother like she was there, but they never showed her. And you'd think that she would have shown up to the hospital in S5 when JT had the overdose, but she didn't.

I'm hoping that there is some big "secret" with JT's family life that comes out in S6. It would be cool if Liberty was the only one who knew about it - something that would bond them even more. Like, JT's parents could have abandoned him and his grandmother adopted him but he didn't tell anyone. That would tie back into the adoption with his son. (Being that they were both adopted). I don't know...just kicking around ideas.

hm, that'd be interesting. it was odd that his mom wasnt around in season 5. i hope something comes out about his mom and family.
