The Movie RENT started out as a Play. The writer of the play, music/songs. Background info: Story takes place in New York in the late 1970's. Focus is on a group of young adults who are friends. With their varried backgrounds, social status, color of skin, religious/religion beliefs, current occupations, they are unlikely to be friends. One is a Lawyer, another got out of old poor appartment and married into a rich family. Father in-law gave him great job and expensive suits & shoes to go with the job. A Major point of the movie was to educate and make aware the beginning of the AIDS epidemic that NY was experiencing. And the man responsible for the play died of AIDS after the dress rehearshal of the Play's Grand Opening.

Movie included: That support groups were starting, Med peeper to remind people to take their ATZ pills, those who coped with being HIV positive and beginning to show AIDS symptoms. Common to turn to alcohol, drugs, sex, anything to numb/alter reality. The Homosexuals were just "coming out of the closet" and those at first getting HIV were those reusing someone's needle to get high on heroine, and Gay men and Lesbian women. Sad times in America.

Two actors you may know are Tay Diggs(Private Practice) and Jessie L Martin(Law & Order). Very interesting! Of course, love the variety of accents!

Doesn't really sound my kinda film, I'm more into the action/thriller types.

Never seen Private Practice or Law and Order, I don't really watch much TV.

I love Action shows, too.

Beeing a nurse and knowing a few people who have died from coplications of AIDS, it was touching and more of a reality. That is why it isn't for everyone. There are moments of comedy.

Here, in the city at the square! It only has 1 owner so there arent more of it in the country/world wide.

Gonna check out if there's some food ready in a bit, am pretty hungry.
