A old review Maximum Deployment episode.

SOUTHLAND SEASON FINALE: Another strong hour of television with the return of Tom Everett Scott’s character to work but you could see from the start that his heart wasn’t in it. Michael Cudlitz continues to turn in an Emmy-worthy performance and happily, Ben McKenzie is keeping up with him. I wasn’t crazy about the final moment with Arija Bareikis’ character but I understand why they did it that way. I think we didn’t spend enough time with her character during the season so we don’t feel invested in her.
TV needs great cop shows and SOUTHLAND definitely fits the bill – I really hope TNT will renew it and give the show another season – it’s truly deserving.

I'm glad the writer loved Ben and Michael, but I loved the final scene with Arija Bareikis, I thought she did great!
