He did really love him!
It's so sad! It broke his heart and tore him apart. It's kind of why I find it so annoying that the writers made the Trey aftermath on the show all about Marissa in S3.  __________________

I like Marissa, but I found the way they wrote her and her storylines annoying because they had a tendency to make it all about her and forget that Ryan is the main character and he was often written as the "bad guy" to some degree too and it's like they'd waste his character.
And Ryan should have had several episodes in S3 dedicated to him dealing with the aftermath of his brother with lots of parenting from Sandy and support from the Cohens. For example, his punching the Dean, punching Volchok, or anything he did that was rebellious should have been tied back to his messed up emotions from what happened with his brother instead of the show making it look like his only reason for fighting is to protect Marissa. At this point, I still find Marissa more interesting than SS though.  __________________

What I don't get is why they never did a Ryan/Trey/Seth storyline. You know, the old brother vs. the new brother.
