Oh, Claire, I am so, so sorry! I can't even imagine what it is like to have to make the decision.
My dog passed away in 2011 and I still miss him. I have had the line about dogs making our lives whole in my sig ever since.

About traveling: Here people get fined now if they don't wear masks, but honestly, I haven't seen a person without a mask on public transport or in supermarkets yet, but I think it's good to ensure shops and public transport have a chance to reinforce it.
I am going to get tested when I cross the border - both ways.
And I wouldn't fly at the moment, but I feel fairly safe traveling by car. )

At this point, it doesn’t make sense to me when I see people without masks.

There is good compliance with the rules around here.
However when I was in Cumbria we visited a zoo. In the shop there was a couple who weren't wearing face masks, but also they were touching loads of things without buying them, and then I saw the man rub his nose with his finger! I didn't feel safe there at all. People weren't keeping to the social distancing rules. Still over a week has gone by and none of us has symptoms, so cautiously optimistic so far. I do see why the hotspots in this country are in the north though.

When Chase (my rabbit) passed, I gave away his hay and wood shavings to my friend at work who has a hamster. It was a good step to move on.

The places in the north that have the most cases, don't surprise me. A lot of Jon's family are in those spots but I doubt they have been mixing but they are all large areas, and if certain people aren't sticking to the rules, it does make sense.

We leave for our mini break tomorrow, will be gone for a week and may or may not get to pop on here. Doing our last bit of packing tonight. Been tricky, Jon and I had a few niggles last night but we cuddled this morning, said we love you to each other and we're moving on :nod:

I think I've done all my packing, got four masks with me so I can hang them out after i wear them, and some anti septic wipes for the apartment in case I need it. May bring a fan as there's no air con there, and its been warm lately. Good thing we have a car, I'm adding more and more things to bring :lol:

Theresa actually lives fairly close to me. :) We've never got around to meeting up though. Three of us on here are in Europe, Leanne is in Canada.

I drove my daughter to the shops today. She bought a pair of shorts a couple of weeks ago, but they didn't fit, so we had to exchange them. Loads of people were doing the same thing because the fitting rooms are unavailable in shops right now.

Extremely hot here today so fans on and windows shaded to keep us cool!

Highly populated areas too Theresa, which doesn't help. Have a lovely time away. :)

finally its friday and the weekend is near. work is being so stressful at the moment and its really making me feel like a nervous wreck all the time. glad to have two days off to just do nothing lol

And we used to be totally global on this board. I used to organise viewing parties where we would watch the same episode together at the same time and talk about it in the threads and we usually had Neel from India, Ayne from Australia and some people from the US and me in central Europe. It was NOT easy to make that work and find a time slot :lol:

When I lost my dog I bought a memory book. It has all kinds of questions (like funniest moment, nicknames etc) in it and places for special pictures. I still haven't written anything down on the page "This was my last day" because it was so horrible but the rest was actually really nice.
I also keep birthday cards (yes, people wrote him for his birthday.,, he was quite a character :D ) and condolence cards in there.
I don't know if that's something you'd like, Claire, but the book helped me focus on his life rather than his death a bit.

Talking about pets really makes me wish I had one again. There are so many in need of good homes.

BTW I'm almost done packing and I have been cleaning like a madwoman because I love coming home to a tidy flat :)

We have such cold winters though that I do try to appreciate when it’s hot. But our summers are way too hot most of the time.
