Yeah, I wonder what its like to be an X-Files newbie viewer when its not the current time period of the show. Wonder if it feels dated to them or how they feel about the actors with the retrospect and knowledge of their work they’ve done since.

I don’t think that newbies do find the show that dated these days actually, other than the obvious with the older phones and tech of course. But I saw a tweet a month or so back from an older viewer warning new viewers that the show would feel very slow and dated to them at first, and a lot of people retweeted that with the general consensus being that they didn’t know what that person was talking about, and that they had no trouble getting into the show at all. The X-Files is timeless in that respect

I do see more confusion about Gillian being the same actress as the one who does Sex Education and The Fall though lol, and how a lot of people didn’t put that together at first because of how different Gillian looks these days

Yeah, I think about shows the youngers watch that have cut away clips, popular music songs playing, and short scenes watching the X-Files has none of those editing techniques so it may seem slower, but the supernatural aspect can be timeless and so can the chemistry

It’s funny cause for me it’s opposite more for Gillian, I was introduced to her as a serious American speaking redheaded women, and the new fans would currently be more familiar with an older blonde, British goofy and smiling person in some roles so she certainly has different faces to fans of different eras.

David has stayed consistently his dry and deadpan self though

Yeah David hasn’t changed that much over the years, while it definitely took me a while to get used to Gillian going blonde after I had associated her with being a redhead for so long!

it always seems that someone somewhere has something new to say about the x-files. Why is that? Part of its charm, and certainly the strength of its format, is that it is both one continuous story and a hundred little stories stitched together. Combine this with the millions of personalities in the fanbase, and it will transpire that there are many, many different ways of looking at the x-files. And in the many, many lists of the best or scariest monsters from the x-files, i have noticed a pattern emerging. It’s true that tooms is iconic and the peacock family is unforgettable, but for my list i have excluded them in favour of monsters (or pseudo-monsters—my definition is apt to be expansive) who better illustrate the show as i understand it.

The writers created some pretty unique monsters of the time for TV.

I just recommended X-Files to a 5th grader when he said he likes paranormal books and shows. He said he thinks he's seen it.

I thought that was a really interesting article that did a good job of discussing some of the monsters which don’t always get as much focus

And that’s awesome that the younger generations are still discovering it

The guy from Aliens was in Millenium? Interesting!

I never watched that show but seems to have a small cult following too.

I’ve seen a few episodes from the first season, but I don’t remember much of it now, I didn’t really keep up with it

It’s definitely nice to see how popular and relevant it still is
