Well it is right for that character in that case as she is meant to be playing an English character, it’s just when she uses the same very posh accent in her real life that it seems a bit affected to me

It’s just funny to me when she lived in America for most of her life, for her accent to then switch to such a refined and upper crust kind of accent, most people in London just do not talk like that__________________

I couldn’t watch the whole thing. What she’s doing is code-switching in order to fit into her surroundings. There is no possible way that at her age she acquired the accent. When she was doing promos for The X-Files revival, she sounded American!

She does even say in one interview I read that she grew up in England with American parents at home and being teased for being American, and then she also had a hard time fitting in when they moved to America and sounded English to them, so it doesn’t sound like she had that kind of really strong and refined English accent that she picked up as an adult after The X-Files. More of a mixture of both cultures maybe

I found that I enjoyed some of the episodes way more on rewatch actually! This and Rm9sbG93ZXJz didn’t make much of an impression on me first time around, but then I thought they were both great episodes when I did a full season rewatch
