 I started Lies's 30 Days of Jate thingy so bringing over my day 1   Day 1: The moment you became a Jate Shipper I would love to say that the moment I became a Jater was the first meeting, that epic and fateful moment Kate stitched Jack up, but to be honest, the first 20 minutes of the Pilot I was busy being in complete awe and my jaw was flat against the floor I did not register the shipping element. So it’s actually their “little” trip to the cockpit for the transceiver, their first trek into the heart of darkness. When he tells her she does not need to go any further (Kate’s safety being Jack’s primary concern) and she tells him that she is fine (Kate always being with Jack). And then when the Smoke Monster attacks, again, Kate is Jack’s main concern, the way he whispers her name, it rolls off his tongue like he’s been saying it a lifetime before, so gentle, yet sure and strong. And she goes to him, and even though they met not 24 hours prior, he takes her into his arms, wraps them around her, strong and safe, and she buries herself in his embrace, this strange man who is all she needs to feel safe at this point, he holds her in his lap for that brief moment and it is enough for her to rid herself of the fear. And then back in the jungle as they run for their lives, Jack does what he does, goes back for a fallen friend, and Kate find herself alone in the middle of the scary jungle. And what does she do? She calls for Jack, this man who has taken over her thoughts and the first thing she thinks of when the fear hits her is that she needs him, and when she does not find him, she uses the tool, the weapon he offered her the day before, strength in counting to five. And once the fear has disappeared, she does the only natural thing. The woman who has been running her whole life finds the only thing she can do right now is go after him, go after Jack. And I’m gone. __________________
