I have a question for you guys. I just finished watching Eggtown, and can't understand why Kate keeps doing what she does. I refuse to believe she doesn't know she's hurting Jack. She's taking advantage of the situation, and he doesn't deserve to be treated like that. Does Kate have the slightest idea of what she's doing to both of the guys? |

I mean the whole "I'm all sweet with Jack, then I have sex with Sawyer, then I get pissed at him and go back to Jack" thing. This is the first time I don't understand her behaviour at all.

Well, granted, she didn't have sex with Sawyer in Eggtown BUT believe me, I understand. You can't really pinpoint her actions there. Some people interpret it as her trying to 'play house' with Sawyer and see if it would work because her finding out that the freighters know about her fugitive status. Others say that she was saying goodbye to Sawyer, knowing she'd never see him again. Honestly, I think she was looking for some comfort and I truly believe she had made up her mind to leave the next morning. And that was her goodbye.

Kate's behavior can be confusing sometimes, and I think that all has to be chalked up to the writers. They love their triangle and up until SNBH I think they've tried to cater to it. However, I think overall they have always put Jate out there as the couple of the show.__________________

Each one of the interpretations could be right, but it still remains the fact she doesn't know what the hell she wants. She seems more lost than ever, and I don't know why. Jack said she loved her, and I found him disarmingly sincere about his feelings. One cannot help but being bewildered seeing that the moment she feels sad or lonely and Jack's not with her, she ends up making out with Sawyer. I feel sorry for Jack, really.

As Ash said, the writers were just catering to its fans. I think they were just trying to fill the void until they could REALLY move on with the triangle, which is shown in SNBH and all throughout the finale. It's still quite obvious.
I can't say Kate was on top of my favorites list in S3. Because of how she was dealing with her feelings. She never really faced them. In C22, it's CLEAR who she wants yet she goes and jumps Sawyer. It was petty and immature. But I put the blame on the writers for that one. Catering both, giving Jaters some emotional stuff while giving Skaters the physical. Either way, it was stupid because of how it showed how much she HASN'T grown. And I believe in the flirting scene at the beginning with her and Jack was to show how she's trying to get things back to normal without actually dealing with what happened in captivity. __________________
