At some point I think they would have wanted to introduce someone else for Rory so if he had stayed on past season 3 then they would have had them break up. I think Amy always wanted Rory to date someone from her grandparents world. I would have hated if they would have had Rory cheat on Jess or how they would have ended it.

But I think maybe she had that idea already even before that

But that would've happened for few episodes only and then he would've come back. That would've still worked though.

Amy once said that she always intended for Rory to lose her virginity to someone she loved but was no longer with (or something to that effect). She also wanted to keep Milo for all six seasons she was involved in and said it was hard to film the pillow talk scene with Jared because of how tall he is and that they had never intended for him to wind up in that small bed.

My guess is that Amy intended for Jess to come back to Connecticut for a while and be there for Rory in season 4 when she struggles instead of Dean doing it and they probably would have slept together. It would have caused as much of drama as the cheating and would definitely have had Rory run to Europe and Lorelai all kinds of mad.

Jared was also itching to leave the show at this point and with his character married they probably would have faded him out I think

A Logan like boyfriend was definitely always planned. It was meant to be Tristan at first but Chad left the show

The whole Dean storyline in season 4 is still one of my least favorite parts of the show

My ick feeling is triggered even by it just being talked about here

The married Dean storyline was when the show started to go downhill and Rory’s character also was just ruined after that.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen an episode from season 7 except the series finale, I think the last episode I saw was Lane’s wedding.

Like Alex said - I only watched the episodes with Jess. I tried watching beyond and before him, but couldn't do it. It was just too boring.
