That's how I feel about Spike on BTVS as well, never truly good and put the lead in a toxic and abusive relationship. I find both of them to be the same. If I had to choose though, Spike is worse. At least Cole didn't try to rape Phoebe like Spike did Buffy. Just saying but still very toxic and abusive regardless.
