if one started watching Season 2 you would never have known Lucas and Peyton had this really amazing relationship beginning in Season 1.

The distance in the second half of the season was more dumb imo, could at least see why LP couldn't exactly be around each other in the first few episodes after everything that happened in S1.

Tbh I think it was to try and push BL. They knew people would for sure not buy it if he was around Peyton regularly because that connection was always obvious. Chad and Hilarie were fantastic.

No doubt, the show going back to BL definitely played a big part in why we got next to no LP scenes in the second half of S2.

Yep. The fact that it made zero sense didn't matter to them because they knew if they had them together semi-regularly, no one would buy BL. It was frustrating, and one of many things that makes season 2 all but unwatchable, but it didn't change the outcome, and tbh I don't think there was ever any intention for it to.
