I don't think it would at all. There are always fans that see everything as endgame material even when it obviously isn't.

Doubt it, some people believe a pairing is endgame when they were never together at all, so a couple of episodes in season 1 would have been more than enough.

Yep, but as I said that didn't start up with BL until S2 and a lot of that fanbase started shipping because of that.
