A CABIN IN THE WOODS — When Tyler (Michael Trevino) turns up at the Salvatore house with the news that Markos’ (guest star Raffi Barsoumian) plan to break the witches’ curse puts Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) in imminent danger, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) suggests they hide out in the remote cabin once owned by Caroline’s (Candice Accola) father. Once there, it becomes obvious to Caroline that Stefan and Elena are keeping a secret, so Damon (Ian Somerhalder) comes up with a parlor game designed to expose the truth. A ghostly presence at the cabin uses violence and fire to make itself known. Meanwhile, Matt (Zach Roerig) takes charge of Tyler’s plan to get information from one of the Travelers, and Bonnie (Kat Graham) continues to keep the truth about the Other Side from Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen), despite warnings from Grams (guest star Jasmine Guy). The episode was directed by Joshua Butler.

OUTRUNNING DEATH — When Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) escape from Markos' (guest star Raffi Barsoumian) control, only to find themselves Stranded in a remote location, Stefan gets philosophical with Elena about her relationship with Damon (Ian Somerhalder). After their attempt to protect the dopplegangers goes badly, Liv (guest star Penelope Mitchell) and Luke (guest star Chris Brochu) come up with a dangerous new strategy. Damon recruits Matt (Zach Roerig) and Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) to help him set a trap for Markos, who turns out to have a devastating surprise of his own. Bonnie (Kat Graham) finally admits to Caroline (Candice Accola) that she's been keeping the truth about the Other Side from everyone. Finally, while Bonnie searches desperately for a way to stop Markos, Caroline is witness to an unthinkable act of violence by one of the Travelers. Michael Allowitz directed the episode.

AN EXPLOSIVE SEASON FINALE — Heartbroken by an unexpected tragedy, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is focused on holding himself together, while pushing Bonnie (Kat Graham) harder than ever to find a way to stop the disintegration of the Other Side. Elena (Nina Dobrev) takes matters into her own hands and demands that Liv (guest star Penelope Mithcell) and Luke (guest star Chris Broshu) help her, but Liv refuses to cooperate until Caroline (Candice Accola) provides her with some personal motivation. Sheriff Forbes (guest star Marguerite MacIntyre) is horrified when Markos (guest star Raffi Barsoumian) uses violence against Tyler/Julian (Michael Trevino) to prove that Mystic Falls is now under the control of the Travelers. With new information from Sheriff Forbes, Damon comes up with a dangerous plan that relies on split-second timing from Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) and Matt (Zach Roerig). Liv’s off-hand remark regarding Stefan (Paul Wesley) gets a surprisingly emotional response from Caroline. As conditions on the Other Side worsen, Bonnie takes the opportunity to settle an old score. Finally, Damon’s plan causes a massive explosion in Mystic Falls, and everyone is caught up in the confusion, leaving a trail of heroism, sacrifice, relief and despair. Chris Grismer directed the episode.

When asked about the finale, Kat says she got to work with Ian more. When asked if there is trouble in paradise for Beremy, she said sort of, "but not in the way you'd think."
She also said the same thing CD said about how Bonnie will disappear if the Other Side is destroyed.

What is Elena going to be doing next season?

If SC is happening, and Damon might be stuck in some other dimension. What happens to Elena without either Salvatore paying attention to her?

She will be by herself which isnt that what everyone wanted anyway? lol

Kevin Williamson gave an interview about the Dawson's Creek Season Finale and mentioned The Vampire Diaries...

Is there anything you’ll do differently going into the next series finale you do?

In terms of Vampire Diaries, you should call Julie Plec right now and ask her how it’s gonna end. [Laughs] Because we’ve talked. I know how we originally said it was gonna end.

Yes, Julie once told me the two of you were sitting in an Atlanta mall early in season 2 and discussed it.

Yes, we did. Things change, but I do know if we go with that ending — oh, I’m gonna start crying thinking about it. [Laughs] I love that show.

I honestly wonder what he would do if he came back to write the series finale. He did a pretty good job with Dawson's Creek.
