You and other Ben fans are absolutely right; he can be a nice guy. But he can also be clingy, overbearing, controlling, and over-romantic. Last remark, I realize that Ben didn’t have an easy breezy childhood with losing his mother and all. Perhaps, he should seek therapy to help him through the lingering pain and to teach him how to show his love less aggressively - this is a serious suggestion that's not meant to be mean.

My dislike of Ben and Amy’s relationship stems from the way it began and it continued to grow throughout the season. I don’t like how Amy already knew she was pregnant when she met Ben and I don’t like the reason why Ben wanted to go out with Amy in the first place (I realize that is hypocritical of me because I’m ok with Ricky and Amy, but that scenario is different imo). I don’t like how rushed B/A were….I could go on and on with the reasons why I don’t like their relationship. The biggest (and most DUH) reason is that I do not like how Brenda Hampton (and other writers) decided to write this supposed “love story”. B/A had the potential to be an amazing and sweet couple but it’s been lost on me. I think the writers left way too much room for people to convincingly argue that they (especially Amy) are not really “in love”. And that Amy stayed with Ben because he was safe and the relationship was convenient for her (this is partially how I view them). Imo, love stories do not begin this way. The last reason I’ll share is that I do not find their relationship entertaining or endearing. And I watch TV to be entertained and to escape from the real world.

I dont know if I think Amy and Ricky will make it in a relationship for the simple fact teenagers who have babies at young ages dont usuall get married to eachother. Its the teenagers life this show is about and I think the reality is teenagers dont have fairytales as lives but they make it through. ALot of people want Amy and Ricky to be together but in my eyes Amy seems to want to be with Ben weather the people like it or not she just wants Ricky to be a father to his son. Ergo the amount of backlash towards Ben is so pointless yeah he might be a bit clingy but Amy likes it at least for now. I usually am only in 90210 thread beacuse thats the only one i know wont ge bashed. so there is no need to even comment back because I probabl wont be back..

Maybe it's just me but I believe EVERYONE has the right to dislike/like any character for whatever reason they so choose. I don't think anyone here has the right to try to dictate who people should like and for what reasons, neither should people be lumping fans of a fanbase and stereotyping them.

i totally agree with you...i think people just want ricky and amy together bc they want this fairy tale ending...but i hope that this show is a little more realistic than that...and i think so far it has been...ricky is the alpha male who most of the time in every show gets the girl or has girls fighting over him...but amy sees more than that and really seems to love ben and ben seems to really love her

maybe he wanted to go out with her for the wrong reasons...but on their first date he really fell in love with her and still has not slept wiht her and wants to be with her...i dont see how ricky wanting to sleep with amy when he first met her is considered so much better...in fact i think its much worse than the way that ben and amy got together

also in season 1 ricky hardly paid any attention to amy...amy stood in front of him and he kinda flirted wiht her...then at the dance he wanted amy to dance with grace's brother so he could dance with grace...yeah wow how romantic

honestly i think that they may put ricky and amy together in the long run but i dont get the appeal of that couple...yeah they have a baby together and that does mean they will always have a bond but the fact that that bond was not there b4 the baby is saying a lot....that the bond begins and ends with the baby and with the extent that they will have to work together and care about each other for the baby

and yeah there is a lot of ben bashing adn almost everything that ben has been bashed for (like just wanting to sleep with amy at first, or wanting grace first) except for the clingy thing...i think ricky has been guilty of alot worse (he actually did sleep wiht amy and then jsut ignored her, he wanted grace too and adrian more than amy until he found out abotu the baby)

yeah ben is clingy...so what? although i admit i may not go for that type of guy...its about amy and ben's relationship together and who she likes and i like amy and ben together and think that its sweet that he supports her and that she feels love and comfort for him

also the one thing i thought was lacking with amy and ben was the physical connection and they showed that with the kiss they shared on ben's bed when his dad walked in the room...so i think that needs a little work but it will happen

also watching the band camp episode i relaly didnt see that much chemistry between ricky and amy and their first kiss either...it just looked like amy didnt know what she was doing and that she felt a little awkward so on that front i dont think ricky and amy have more of a physical connection that amy and ben

If that is true than the only guy student I see it being is Ricky, but I have not heard anything about it.

Yeah it pretty much be said, so I don't need to add nothing, but something small. The fact I don't like the whole Ben/Amy pairing it felt like a rush relationship, so how I am suppose to root for them if the writer play it out like that. Aagin it's with any show that I watch.
