Yes. It's quite possible that both Ty & Emmett tell Bay that situation won't work for either of them. If that's the case, she really doesn't have a choice but to choose Ty. She's with him, now. So she needs to make it work.

It will be odd for Bay not to run to Emmett when she is worried about things anymore (i.e. Regina's drinking, Noah & Daphne's disapproval of her quote to the news media, Toby's marriage, etc.).

But if Bay just opens up and lets herself trust Ty, I know he can be there for her instead. I'm still surprised Bay ran from Ty's room when she got the text about John, without even telling Ty that John was in the hospital. But I have a feeling by the end of the season, Bay will be a lot more comfortable sharing things with Ty. I think they'll make it together at least well into season 3, if not beyond.

At least we know both Ty and Emmett are mature enough about everything to sit at the same dinner table for the wedding. That's a good sign. It must mean they will all be able to be cordial to each other, in the future. What do you all think will happen to Bay & Ty in Season 3? Who thinks Emmett will get a new love interest in Season 3?

I don't think Daphne and Jace will make it as a couple, but Lea Thompson's tweet about wanting Jace back next season makes me wonder. I am impressed that the actor picked up ASL so quickly. Part of me would love to see a Jace & Simone pairing. Too bad Daphne is not friends with Simone anymore. I can almost imagine a pickup basketball game with Noah & Daphne on one team and Jace & Simone on the other team. I know that will never happen though. What do you all think will happen with Daphne & Jace?

I do think Toby & Nikki will marry, but the writers may have Nikki off on her mission trip when Season 3 begins. Does anyone think Nikki might stay overseas and not come back? I have heard of that happening to people in real life. Their new spouse takes a trip and never returns, ending the marriage. Then, a couple of years later, the former spouse shows up to cause trouble, once their partner has finally moved on with life. That could so easily be LW's style. But I could also see the two of them being quite cute trying to set up a household and navigate married life. I could even see the other teens looking to Toby & Nikki as role models. Which way do you all think the Toby & Nikki story will go?

Last but not least, do you all think we will get another Angelo cliffhanger? So far we have had one for EVERY season. In Season 1A, we had "will Angelo stay in KC?". In Season 1B, we had "will Regina marry Angelo to keep him in the country?". In Season 1C, we had "why is a pregnant woman looking for Angelo?". And in Season 2A, we had "where did Angelo's newborn baby go?".

So what do you all think will be the cliffhanger for Season 2B? I am thinking Angelo again, but I so wish the writers would come up with something new!

I agree with everything you said. I can see Bay and Ty still a couple into season 3, growing closer and closer with each other. I do think we will get an I love you out of Ty before too long. I do think Emmett will get a ne wlove intrest and we could see a jealous Bay, which will make Ty wonder about her feelings for him. I see them as a couple for awhile.
I think Daphne and Jace will be over by the end of the summer.
I think the wedding gets called off and they do not go through with it at the last minute, but still have the party. I don't think Tobey wants to get married.
I think the cliffhanger will be Angelo. I think the family finds something else out about him. I get the feeling he is hiding something.

Ah, ta for wanting to encourage me, despite your own gloom, Amy.

There are a couple of things going against my worst fears. One is that Sean Berdy mentioned in a recent interview that he hoped to be around on Switched at Birth for a long while. The other is the suggestion, made elsewhere on this thread, that the writers are working on long term and big picture storytelling. I so hope that this really is the case, and that they have some wonderful stuff up their collective sleeves.

I also think that Bay harbours feelings still for Emmett, for many of the reasons you list above - or rather the reactions that you list. I don't think she is as over him as it would seem on the surface. I want to see them both dealing with their feelings, whatever the outcome. Perhaps there are the beginnings of this in the next couple of episodes, as there is clearly tension now that Bay and Ty are together, and Bay works with Emmett on the Deaf event.

In a sense, as much as I am a B/E shipper, I just want Emmett around more. And I know I'm am nowhere near alone. For example, I watched an ASL episode review earlier today (a review in ASL of this week's ep, not a review of the ASL ep, to clarify), and the very first comment from the reviewer was about Emmett's absence. He, as the main ASL speaker on the cast, is sorely missed when he is not around (and that's before you even touch upon the way he lights up the screen). There have been a few comments from Deaf viewers suggesting that there is far less ASL than there has been in the past (for the record, Jace signs well, but he's sim-comming; the signs are the same, but it's not strictly ASL). Certainly Deaf viewers want to see ASL, and conversations between ASL speakers. Hopefully, the Deaf Awareness Day at Maui Kansas, and some development on the CI storyline, will restore some balance.

This thread moves so quickly! I can hardly keep up. But it's so marvellous to come back after a day and to find lots of lovely debate, discussion and speculation.

So, for now, I am going to attempt to shelve my Emmett pessimism a little bit. If there is another ep this season without him, I will be re-evaluating, but I am hoping the writers wouldn't do that to us. They wouldn't, would they?

And I guess they set up a way for Ty to leave in case TLG got picked up since they weren't sure when they wrote the episode. I'm wondering what they'll do now, if anything. Or maybe Ty's arc was never meant to go longer than the summer episodes. I guess we shall see in the event of a season 3 (hopefully).

Yeah, that's . . . disappointing. So anyone Bay is with while Ty is off is just saving his place while he's gone? That isn't fair to that person and no one is going to want to be that placeholder. I especially don't want it to be Emmett. If Bay and Emmett do get back together, she and the writers are going to need to make it clear that it isn't just because Ty isn't available at the moment.

LW is keeping Ty as her ace in her back pocket to bring back whenever she feels like. Here's hoping the Ty actor finds a permanent acting job somewhere that keeps him unavailable to do this show. Maybe LW will kill him off offscreen at some point? That's certainly a reality for some soldiers who serve multiple deployments.

I'm not so sure she'll break them up this time to be honest. I feel like they still have stories they want to tell. Maybe Ty gets injured and has to return home early and in the meantime he and Bay do the long distance thing.

I could be wrong, but I think now that she knows Blair/Ty are available, they won't be writing him off completely. I got the impression from one of his interviews that if he was available to stay, they'd explore more PTSD/soldier storylines.

And I really do think they'll give Emmett a new love interest next season anyway.

yeah they'll probably break up again, or she'll decide to stay together and wait for him, or yeah kill him off off screen. either way there isn't any hope in those situations for b/e since her feelings for ty still wouldn't be resolved. i wouldn't want bay/emmett to get together while she's still hung up on ty/grieving if he dies. and i'm sure emmett wouldn't want to feel like the default guy.

whatever, at least i know not to expect anything good happening now. and prob not in season three too.

My best guess for Ty is that they want to keep Blair Redford around. Poor guy. I can't imagine the tension he is feeling about breaking the news to Bay around the time of her brother's wedding, and I doubt the relishes the idea of leaving Bay when Emmett is always nearby (hanging out with Daphne or Toby or at Carlton).

I bet the writers want to start up the school year, reintroduce Bay at Carlton, and focus on the Deaf students (without Ty as an extraneous storyline). But I am almost positive he will have a long-distance relationship with Bay. And I am pretty darn sure he'll return on leave, or even be stationed back in KC, by the midway point of Season 3A.

They can't let Ty be gone for too long. He'll probably just be gone for the first few episodes to give the Carlton students a chance to get back in to full swing again.

I hope we get lots of Daphne & Noah AND Emmett & his new love! That's what I want most of all for Season 3A.

Yes, I suspect that is exactly what will happen, Amy. A long distance relationship and he'll end up being back sometime in 3A. I just don't think they are ready to let go of the Bay/Ty story or the soldiers in war/returning from war story.

What do you want to bet that Ty will break things off with Bay and tell her not to wait for him, because he knows the reality of deployment?

Do you think Bay could realize that things weren't all that great with Ty and really and truly decide she does have feelings for Emmett? Especially when she sees him with his new girlfriend?

But Emmett might feel like Bay is just saying that to him because Ty is deployed, and Emmett won't believe Bay (even though her feelings for him are real).

LW would do something like that, wouldn't she?
