‘Star-Crossed’ Series Premiere Spoilers — Matt Lanter as an Alien in Love - TVLine

In a nutshell, his journey is that his father was a leader of the Atrians and also the leader of the human-Atrian relations committee on the Atrian side. He’s murdered. Now Roman is being looked to fill that position. He’s a young kid, he’s 16 years old; he didn’t want it. It was never in the cards. And now Roman has got this destiny, in a way, with Emery, who was this human girl that saved him when he was 6 years old. They reconnect in high school, and now he’s totally conflicted [about whether to] feed into that love and that destiny he feels with this one person, this soulmate of his, or do the right thing for his people.

TVLINE | What’s that going to be like for Roman, trying to do both those things?
What you will see is that it puts both Emery and Roman in an outcast position. Roman is an outcast because he’s got this love for this human girl, which is unheard of and really frowned upon by both sides. And you’ll come to find there are groups of people within both cultures — some are for integration and some are against it.

TVLINE | The aliens have markings on their faces. Will we find out what those markings mean?
At first appearance, what we really only see are the markings on the body. We know they have some different anatomy; they’ve got two hearts, two lungs, which obviously lends itself to different types of strengths and weaknesses. They have certain allergies not common to humans and actually age faster. You will see the markings do have a function [in that] we can breathe underwater, we can actually breathe through our skin. I was trying to keep that tight but [series creator] Meredith Averill said it in an interview and I was like, “OK I guess we’re telling people.”

TVLINE | There’s a little mention in the pilot about Atria, the Atrians’ home planet. Will we learn more about that?
We learn a little bit. We learn a very small amount about it in Episode 4. But in general, we don’t know much about who these people are. One thing is the Atrians have their own language that they speak on their planet called Sondiv, and we speak that a lot in the show. It’s a real language built by a language specialist — by the same guy who built the Dothraki language for Game of Thrones.

TVLINE | That is really awesome!
He actually built our language the same way he built the Dothraki language – from scratch, from the ground up. It’s real. Every time we speak it on the show, we get sent the audiotape of him speaking the language and how it’s phonetically spelled out and how it’s pronounced. It’s pretty cool.

jason behr looked 35 when he did roswell too.

i just read matt barr is doing a new pilot on cw. he'll probably play 15.

Actually no he didn't. The first season, Jason was very believable as 16 or so, or whatever the age he was supposed to be. He and Shiri (who looked younger, and was young along with Majandra when the show started). Katharine H. is the one who was stretching it with looking like a teenager... Of course they changed it in season two when they suddenly made Isabel 18, while Max stayed younger...

But by the end of the run, all of them grew up and were looking older. And one of the reason they kept Max out of the high school in Season 3, was that he was more believable away in other stories,...while the gave the impression Liz and Kyle were still very much attending high school. And why they had Jeff Parker play the overprotected parent with Liz and Max in Season 3.

I am mixed about this attempt. Jason was a lot cuter love interest. They seem to be playing up the alien side of on Star Crossed. But then they said Max, Michael and Isabel were alien hybrids. That they had human DNA mixed with their alien DNA.

I really think Roswell was a show ahead of it's time. It had flaws do doubt. But still I miss it. So I may check this attempt.

I just wish they could bring Roswell back, instead of trying a new version of the show...

Going against the Olympics is not good scheduling.

That's kind of funny considering she was one of the younger stars.

She definitely looked way older. Looked it up, she was about 21 when the show started. Maybe it was because she was around longer in show business than the others (although I had seen Shiri in the pilot of ER in 1994).

Majandra was the youngest (she was born in 1981). Minus Jason, the rest were 20 or 21 depending on when the pilot was shot...Although I think because of Shiri's looks, she looked way younger.

Jason was the oldest. But maybe because they did such a good job in Season One and Season Two, it wasn't noticable. Max and Liz looked younger. And a good match. You wouldn't know how old he really was...

Some actors can make it work. But they might have more of a harder time with Star Crossed, because I know the actor has been around a looong time. So trying to buy him as a teenager might be stretching it.

But I might check out, and might be surprised...

me too! he was wise to get off that train wreck twisted. i'm kind of surprised that emery isn't popular though.
