Reign Spoilers and Speculation #46: Will Francis surrender to protect Mary?

REIGN SPOILERS & SPECULATION THREAD

Airing Thursdays at 8 PM EST on the CW

The second season begins with Mary and Francis on the throne of a nation burning. France is rocked by the aftereffects of the plague -- a disease that creeps inside the castle walls, taking thousands upon thousands of lives across the land, and ravages the stability of a nation. From the ashes, powerful lords will rise, carrying out personal, religious and political vendettas, taking lives, and tearing at Mary and Francis’s commitment to each other, and their people. Friendships will be tested, loved ones murdered and betrayed. Meanwhile, a mysterious and deadly threat snatches victims from village streets and castle corridors; leaving evidence of savagery that looks like the work of monsters; mythical creatures who are the subject of nightmares, but who walk among us, doing the Devil’s bidding.

Nope. I'm wondering if it will hit .2 before the season is up.

Is any other show doing less than one million viewers on the CW, do you happen to know? It seems a poor result for a second season.

The Messengers which just premiered last week. They are sure to be canceled or pushed to summer.

Pretty much. I saw this coming back before the winter break. Shame Laurie doesn't care enough to listen to the fanbase.

They completely changed the face of their show, I would be way more surprised if the audience had stayed.

Like some others have been guessing I think Laurie decided to make some changes for the last episodes including Elizabeth's appearance. I'm sure Reign is airing during the Summer with BatB next year.

I can't stand Conde or Monde but Conde turning evil out of the blue is the dumbest thing ever. I guess they had to find a way to kill this storyline sooner than they thought.

It's kind of annoying though that even if they insist they're respecting the main events they're making a complete mess of Amboise.

I personally don't think it is out of the blue. They've been building up to this from the very beginning. Do you honestly think if he had shown anyone this side of himself he would still be at court? Or that Mary would even consider him as an option?
People only show you a side of themselves they want you to see, this is their way of manipulating you into trusting them. Conde had to show Mary that he was this "good & loving" man, otherwise he would never have been an option. He has tried from the moment he met Mary to make Francis out to be the enemy while he was "good & loved her" & did everything she desired. This is how he emotionally manipulated her to trust him and to considering him as an option, I believe this side of him was always there hidden behind the "good" exterior he kept showing Mary.

Had Mary known that he was capable of doing things like this before she got with him, she would have kicked him to the curb. He has nothing to lose now.

And all of this will be something that Mary realises and it's why she will so easily turn against him. I think she will also turn on Conde because she finds out he threatened her life and that Francis surrendered himself to protect her. She then goes to kill Conde and Francis witnesses it and this will be the beginning of the Frary build up for next season. Laurie & co couldn't be more obvious in their plan for FM rebuilding even if they tried.

I still don't buy Mary turning on Conde in an episode over this. Based on how Monde was written, Mary would at least ponder whether to team up with conde, and not immediately try to kill him. It seems way too abrupt based on what we have seen thus far of Mary's feelings for conde.

I don't like Conde. But for this to make sense, more time should have been spent on Conde's decision to go after the crown. He has been shown to have no ambition. Antoine wanted it all, not conde. And conde went against antoine's wishes. Having him attack the castle the episode after the idea was first brought to him is too abrupt, as is Mary immediately turning on him the next episode. They just wanted to end this mess quickly.

^ Oh I believe she would. We are talking about the same women who killed a man who threatened an entire families life. The same women who recently gloated to his father about killing him.
The women who turned on her husband because she associated him to something he could never have seen coming. Right?

So why is Conde the exception? Because she loves him? We all know that Mary's love is conditional and she does not take threats kindly, no matter who they are coming from.
If someone I loved and I believed loved me threatened my life, you bet I would turn on their sorry arse and so will Mary. This isn't OOC for her, it's very much IN Character.
