6x17 - A Bird In A Gilded Cage - March 19th

DAMON TRAVELS TO THE 1903 PRISON WORLD — With the help of Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Kai (guest star Chris Wood), Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) set forth a plan to rescue Damon’s mother Lily (guest star Annie Wersching), who is trapped in the 1903 prison world. Meanwhile, when Caroline's (Candice Accola) plan for Stefan (Paul Wesley) backfires, she is left to pick up the pieces. Elsewhere, back at Whitmore College, Enzo (Michael Malarkey) and Alaric’s (Matt Davis) attempt to reel Caroline back in doesn’t quite go as planned when they realize they're outmaneuvered. Lastly, an unexpected gift from Bonnie leaves Damon shaken to his core.

You've been insisting that the quality will improve, and I've said that it won't, that it will decline and it's denial to think otherwise, in the same post ("seriously"). I also find it interesting that you've avoided our previous point:

It's okay to admit that your disgust for the character makes you stoked to watch the show with her leaving, but I personally wouldn't lie to myself about the quality improving.

Ia. Why would the show improve purely because Elena won't be around? From what i've seen, she's barely had a storyline this season and has been replaced with Caroline who the writers have now made unbearable in Elena's place. It's the writing, not the characters/actors. Well, obviously the actors make a difference but that's another story.

I agree with Queen Elsa. The show is not going to improve simply because one character left. It's the writing and the writing on this show has sucked since season 3. Many people have already given up on this ****ty show and the ratings are proof of that. I really believe the ratings will only decline even more once Elena is gone. I've already seen multiple people say they quit.

The quality of the show has been absolutely abysmal for 3 whole seasons, Nina leaving is not going to have much impact on the quality of the show imo. I'm more worried about the terrible female to male character ratio. I'm sick of all these dudes tbh.

So you're avoiding a counter argument once again, well I don't mind asking once more: how exactly do you expect the writing to improve when it hasn't done so all year? As you said yourself, Nina hasn't been given much to work with, yet you think her leaving will improve things. Why hasn't anything improved while she's been doing so little then? Don't expect me to take you serious if you choose to dodge every point from people while waving your unbiased analysis around. I think you know well enough that it's the writing that determines the good quality, not the actor or which character will be leaving, and as I've said, we'd be fooling ourselves if we felt that would change with her leaving.

Unless of course, for whatever reason, you enjoy the writing this year. As for this nitpicking of my post, I really don't get what point your trying to make besides trying to make yourself look smart or taking a jab at me. I said it's delusional to believe the quality will change, and I'm sure everyone knew I meant change in a good way, or in other words, the opposite of a decline. I'm not sure how this was hard to comprehend.

At least we can agree this is hopeless, I'll let you enjoy staying in your bubble.

I completely agree. I'm just so curious to see how the character is written off or leaves?
