PS - something for Rumbelle fans to consider - so far, you are the only couple to NOT be subject to a triangle (or in OQ's case, a likely triangle). Season 5 maybe?!? (I'm just teasing! )

After a rewatch and a couple of days to digest, here are my thoughts on the finale. Posting here because it is a safe place for a discussion

Outlaw Queen

I won't get into my dislike of the Marian storyline because others have expressed far more eloquently than I how there is no way it can end well. I get they want angst for their couples but this scenario just seems like an excuse to reatart the Emma and Regina feud.

Snowing

I am extremely disappointed about the changes made to Snow Falls. I am glad they kept the scar, the net scene, and the troll bridge. I love that Emma got to see them fall in love. However I have 2 major problems with the rewrite:

1. Charming originally saves Snow from Regina's knights including an awesome arrow shot by him. It was an important enough part of the story to be one of only 3 things mentioned in the diner. It was at that point that she started looking at him differently. The dialogue about his saving her and it being the honorable thing to do was so earnest. Now Charming "saves" Snow from being squashed by Killian while she was a bug. The same dialogue was said but it came across as sarcastic and snarky. I feel like they rewrote history so Snow would save herself instead if having "a man" save her to satisfy all the female empowerment posters that constantly harass Adam on twitter. It was just unnecessary as Snow was just as strong abd indeoendent even if she was rescued that one time. Part of the beauty of Snowing has always been they were equals who took turns saving each other. And I just laugh thinking that in the new timeline at the diner Charming says and I saved her from being squadhed when she was a bug. How ridiculous that sounds.

2 My biggest problem with the rewrite has to do with Snow attempting to murder Regina with the fairy dust. It is so OOC with the numerous times we have seen Snow preach forgiveness and second chances. She could easily have killed her with an arrow in 2.18 but chose to let her go. Not to mention in 1.17 when Snow goes to assassinate Regina after taking the love killing potion, a big deal is made about keeping her heart pure and how against her nature is killing. Also after killing Cora with dark magic, Snow becomes depressed and suicidal and much is made about killing being so unlike her. But now in the new timeline, she had already attempted murder with dark magic. The only difference was the success. So now the entire storyline of her depression is just ridiculous.

Charming Family

My favorite parts of the episode. Loved all the SB scenes with baby Neal. Henry reading the story of Snow and Charming to the baby was adorable. Emma finally realizing that she hurt her mother by pushing her away and finding her magic again through the love she has for her family made me so happy. Loved that she called them mom and dad without being in danger and that she finally feels like she has a home.

My only complaint is the casting of a 15 year old actress (I googled her) to play an 11-12 year old Emma. She just looked a lot older than Emma would have been 18 years ago and it made Emma seem older. Now think the casting department was spot on for having her look like JMo and do hope we see her in more flashbacks next season.

Rumbelle

I thought the Rumbelle wedding was beautiful but could they not have at least included Ruby? She and Belle are friends. And you are supposed to have 2 witnessed in some (most? maybe even all?) states excluding the officiator.

Captain Swan

Great episode for them. Loved their little adventure and it was a nice twist that Hook was the more responsible one about keeping the timeline pure. The scenes with past Hook were hilarious. Liked that true love following the family ring happened for Emma too as she had her own chance to try it on right before becoming open to Hook the episodes sold me on them as a pairing so I am aboard ship now instead of watching from the dock.

Captain Charming

Hook's comments about Charming and Abigail's engagement were hilarious. I also loved his expression when he interrupted Snow and Charming flirting. It was like so you were always this way. And the chat by the fire was great with the talk of their love lives and family disaporoval (especially the quip at the end). We have seen so many beautiful friendships between the women so it is nice to finally have some male bonding scenes that don't involve fighting off enemies or drinking.

It is going to be a long couple of months until filming starts back and we have new spoilers. Maybe by then I will get over my disappointment about the changes to Snow Falls. I do love the idea that now there are two stories and that they actually remember both (I will stick with that thought until proven otherwise). Thanks to all of you. It has been a lot of fun discussing the show with you the past few months. I am glad I came out of lurking and wish I had done so earlier.

He did get his happy ending with Belle, but he has all this baggage from his death, enslavement, losing his son, and the abuse. It sounds like they are implying that he got his happy ending and he should be happy but he isn't. It is the age old theory that we can get everything we want, but are still hoping for more. Despite how it's worded, I don't think they are implying that Belle isn't his happy ending and he doesn't truly love her. I think since they are exploring his inner psyche and his motivations, we are going to see him struggle with what he went through and the reasons why he lied to Belle and took revenge.
I also think what they are actually referring to is that yes he got his happy ending, but he has this dark cloud hanging over it and we may see Rumple thinking, do I deserve this after what I did? Does that make sense?

Okay. I'll go with that.. It just bothered me. If Belle isn't his happy ending after all she's been through for him then I think they would permanently damage him and his whole story would make no sense.
