Cameron Cuffe Cast as Lead in Syfy’s ‘Krypton’ Pilot | Variety

Syfy has found the lead for Superman-origins pilot, “Krypton,” Variety has learned. British newcomer Cameron Cuffe has been cast in the starring role of Seg-El. Destined to be the ancestor of Jor-El, the future father of Superman, and Kal-El, the future Superman,, Seg-El is the scion of the once prosperous El family and is blessed with an intuitive brilliance for all things technical. He is now living in Krypton’s lowest caste after his family was stripped of its rank. Cuffe, born in London, recently appeared in Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant’s “Florence Foster Jenkins,” and has a recurring role on ITV’s upcoming drama “The Halcyon.” He is a graduate of Ireland’s National Academy of Dramatic Art, The Lir Academy. Following his graduation, he appeared in the Park Theatre production of David Hare’s play “The Vertical Hour” and in the Donmar Warehouse production of “City of Angels.” “Krypton” hails from David S. Goyer — screenwriter of “Batman Begins,” “Man of Steel” and “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” — who co-wrote the pilot with Ian Goldberg. Goyer will executive producer with Damian Kindler. Colm McCarthy, who’s directing the pilot, is co-executive producer. The story is based on the DC Comics characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. Warner Horizon Television produces “Krypton,” along with Goyer’s Phantom Four banner.
