Yeah Blaab and Mary, good to know I'm not the only one who feels this way.

I can't wait for the new season to start, seeing season 6 now in German every Tuesday now, makes me already feeling greedy to see season 7.
The anticipation to know that yeah finally there will be new eps, there are so many great spoilers already out, funny lines and punches! to be delivered, sad scenes of course too. But that was to be expected and quite frankly I'm looking forward to them as well.

Yeah it's definitely time for new stuff but at the same time I'm kind of affraid of what's waiting for us. We make a big hype about it now and at the end we're going to say: What ? That was it ?

I'm not watching the German episodes. I saw the first one and that was enough. I can't stand the voices and so many jokes and references are lost in the translation. And the language they use sometimes

idk if u all heard this already..but ill just say it incase =] (not a spoiler or anything) .. but dawn ostroff (head of the cw) said that she expects the ratings to drop on all of the shows in the first few weeks becuase of the switch.

so if GGs ratings are alot worse than usual..it can be a good sign that it didnt drop just because of the JJs boycotting ;]

Yes, season 3 is the last time they had the whole cast in one photo and it had 2 versions, one with Rory and Dean close and a 2nd with Jess closer. I just hope they don't pull a Dean v Logan type thing that they had for season 5 with Luke and Chris!

ETA - Ratings are tricky, the CW is saysing that it might take time for people to find their shows so the ratings might be down even with the larger coverage the CW has over WB or UPN. So how are we to trust the ratings if the CW doesn't even know. I just we just have to start freash and see how they go.

What? No post in the last three minutes? Creating Rory didn't take as long. Sorry, couldn't resist.

For me half the fun is how they are going to translate it, LMAO sometimes. Luke, der einsame Wolf.
Of course I prefer the english version, way better, but it's nice to see GG actually on TV.

Wow. It has been so long since I have been here. I have been trying to keep up with you guys but it's been hard. As a result, some of this may repeat stuff. GG used to be one of my favorite shows and it's hard to see the direction that it going in. The stuff Auselio said is especially bothersome. The bottom-line problem that I am having is that non of this is believable to me. ASP went through alot of trouble to show Chris as this really squirmy, self-centered loser who feels like his place as Rory's father usurps everything else in Lorelai's life. Fine, she and Luke break-up, for manufactured reasons that I also don't follow with respect to the storyline and character development, and then she jumps in the sack with Chris the same night? My mind cannot process that. I also am having difficulty understanding how a 38 year old woman can be so, I don't know...I can't find a word for it. After everything Luke has done, his investment in the Dragonfly and all the money he put into her house for them to live their together, this all just seems so....disrespectful?? Is that the right word? I'm not sure but it is very incongruent. I did not watch alot of the last part of last season and I probably won't watch this season either unless I see some sort of development in the Lorelai character that will allow me to sympathize more. I couldn't sympathize at all in the finale and I'll have to wait and see how this all pans out. But for the meantime I'll probably just catch Bones. I hope that I can make my way back eventually. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Lorelai lost more than 9 eps last year and she's still moving backwards, not yet even started a turn-around. Piling on more and more for Luke to deal with somehow. And the big difference is - perhaps Lorelai has time for this journey, but her fans don't have time left to see the result. We won't see her build a life together with Luke, assuming they ever do. At most they'll get back to maybe being friends again? maybe re-engaged? Been there, done that.

Even a last-minute wedding doesn't share the day-to-day part of that journey with fans. And that, as I keep saying, is what matters to a considerable number of LL fans, regardless of exact percentages that none of us can know. We're a part of that "established fanbase" that's clearly been written off.
Well, that's only if one expects that the marriage isn't the endgame, and I'm not sure that that's the case. It may very well be that everything leading up to the courtship, i.e., Lorelai's other relationships, as well as the courtship itself, is the journey (the middle) and the wedding is the finale of that part of the GG story. Has anyone in authority ever promised more, if indeed one holds to those type of promises?

Quote:
I believe we will have to wait a bit to see Lorelai realising that she was wrong about some things, she hadn't lost Luke yet ... I do also believe Luke will see what his part in this was also …
I think he needs to. He's not completely blameless for the failure of this part of their relationship. He was acting as if he could continue to compartmentalize his life when he had earlier told Lorelai that he was all in. He wasn't all in. It was "easy" for him to be understanding and stand by Lorelai while she was in the midst of her own issues. He had done that, to an extent, many times before. However, when it has come to his own issues, he's always had to be dragged "kicking and screaming" into opening up and sharing, and those were in no way as major as April. With something as big as an unknown daughter, his tendency to keep things separate and handle things on his own went into overdrive. Lorelai couldn't get him to be more forthcoming -- not only because of his fears but because of hers -- having just come out of a major falling out with Rory over the very issue of trying to give advice, be more involved or impose one's own wishes, she wasn't so eager to repeat the experience.

But, the Lorelai and Rory situation is not at all the same as the Lorelai and Luke. With Rory, Lorelai had to learn to let go and allow her little chick to fly and/or crash and burn over life's many travails, as did Rory have to learn to let go of mommy and her Stars Hollow comfort zone. The Luke situation is the exact opposite. Lorelai and Luke have to learn to open up and include each other, consider each other the other half of themselves. So, the remedy Lorelai was prescribing for the Rory situation eventually worked out for her, as the bottomline was that she had to let go of Rory. That same remedy -- which she was following AGAIN with Luke -- was the exact wrong one. She needed to not let go, not be passive, not sit back. How can you form one life out of two if you do that?

(Frankly, I didn't want Lorelai to be that passive with Rory either, as I've said previously, because I felt it prolonged the situation and made it worse, but -- in the end -- Rory and Lorelai DO have to create separate lives, so it, fortunately, turned out well enough.

Well, I don't always like the things some characters do, Lorelai sleeping with Chris, for example, but then I try to understand why they did it. And in this case I can understand Lorelai's feelings and her reasons for going to Chris. I don't always have to like every single part of the show, but I can still enjoy watching it.
So I hope, ssmartinez55, that you will enjoy watching GG again sometimes.

Huh. My local WB affiliate has taken pity on poor ciaobella and pulled the remaining reruns of GG so they can transistion to MyNetwork. And since my UPN doesn't turn into the CW until Sept 18 than I am spared the last six horrible torturous episodes of S6.

Sad when that's the most positive news about the show for me since the Punch.
