Archie Comics Appreciation: Cuz nothing' changes in Riverdale

We used to have a thread for Archie and the gang, but it got pruned. I like everyone else read them when I was a kid. It's the first comic I remember reading. I was a long plane flight and an attendant gave me a copy.

Anyone else love Archie and Co.

I remember reading Archie as a kid. Or I probably went for the Betty & Veronica ones.

Who's the other guy? Not Jughead. I can't remember his name.

He's Reggie, a nasty rich guy. He's not a very major character. But he shows up now and then.

I love reading Archie comics. I would have to say my favorite person is Reggie. I love the one where Reggie and Betty start spending more time together and kind of start dating. Then of course Archie and Veronica realize what they are missing and of course Betty and Reggie stop dating.

I think I still have a few Archies and a couple of Betty and Veronica comics. Unfortunately, they are in bad condition.

I doubt anything has changed since your childhood day, Cynthia.

Sunnyolaf, that sounds like such a cute story. I'll have to find it. Or hope they redo it.

Aw... I used to collect Archie comics :D They're in a box in my basement now, but they were my first comic luv.

wanderer78 10-12-2004 06:37 AM

I think they were everyone's first love. Our grandkids will probably be reading them. :)

Oh I absolutely loved Archie comics when I was younger. My dad had this huge barrell full of comics in my room, and I think that roughly a third of them were Archie, Bettie and Veronica, and Pep Comics. Even though he told me never to touch them, I think I read them all 20 times.

i remember spending all my allowance money when i was in gradeschool for Archie Comicbooks! i absolutely love Jughead!

wanderer78 10-19-2004 04:50 AM

Jughead is pretty funny. I was always begging my mother for Archie comics. So I had a pile of them. But they were thrown out a lifetime ago.

yeah its the same way with me, some of them got thrown out. i use to think of how much i spent on it, especially since i grew up in the philippines, and back then buying those were a luxury! :)

KeithUrbanfan 11-12-2004 07:32 AM

I loved them

Me too. At that point I never even thought about keeping them.

I think my allowance went towards it too.

Here's a cover I found funny:

^^ Funny cover

I love Archie comics! Too expensive for me to buy 'em (I'm in the Philippines  ) but I managed to borrow from my friends  My fave character is Jughead

The Crow 03-01-2005 10:36 AM

I actually picked up one of the Archie Digest's at Wal-Mart the other day. It was a total impulse buy, but I read the whole thing, and it looks like things haven't changed too much for the Riverdale gang since I was reading my dad's old comics 15 years ago.

Archie Comics are timeless. I'm still waiting for Betty & Reggie to hook up and forget about Archie & Veronica.

wanderer78 08-19-2005 08:53 PM

You're not the first one to mention that. I have to find that story. It sounds so cute.

Ooh, I love Archie comics. I've got a whole stack of them, rather outdated, yes, but they're there all right. I used to spend a lot of pocket money just buying it, but lately I've stopped buying, since that I just got a handphone, and the prepaid is expensive. But I buy it whenever I can. It was Archie comics which first taught me how to use proper English!

I remember someone mentioning on the books board, that Archie comics was how she learned to read. They're what made me an avid reader too.

I adore Jughead, he's so funny.

There seems to be a tv show based on the comic in the works.
