If you compare this movie to "Wag the Dog" the results are pretty unsettling.
We (the public) get played. Maybe by reporters, writers, editors or by invisible vampires that go straight for the neck. But the bottom line is, we get played and we should be alert. lol I'm feeling political today. Between John Roberts, Iraq, Hugo Chavez and Katrina there is material enough for a 5 year HBO mini series. __________________

You really do need to take everything you read with a grain of salt. All articles are somewhat bias and the view of the author.
This movie was on when I came home from work but it was like the last 20 mins. I missed hayden's hip action & the Darth Vader refrence I love when Chuck starts getting all angry and yells at Steven and also Chloe's character |

Yea that was good too but I was refering to the one when Chuck finds out about his brother and when Chuck is putting back all the mags and he says he's not going anywhere with Steven.
LOL when Steven wanted to take his rolledex and shut his computer down. I was like Hayden's cursing! My ears, My ears! |

The big thing about the end of the film is... Peter's character (the Editor) was RIGHT and no one wanted to admit it (that they'd been played)... But then you see him come in the next day and they've prepared a company wide retraction with all of their names on it.
It was the only professional thing they could do and hope it didn't destroy the paper's reputation. Also, Steven Glass had a lot of self-esteem issues and this is obviously why he faked his stories -- for the attention -- Because he was/is a brilliant person (He has a law degree now, but no state will grant him a license to practice out of fear of lieing when in court), but just has the handicap of being a compulsive liar. Ironically, there was also a recent NY Times reporter who faked his stories as well... Yet these big "institutions" just keep on rolling. I think that is a testament to "The Fourth Estate" (the press) and how much we need it, regardless of when they stumble, because without it, we're no better than a Third World country or George Orwell's 1984 where lies can become the truth and no one questions it even as people are dying. |

True, we do need the press. We just have to filter what we read and find what is true and what is made up.

Hey guys!
I finally saw the movie! for me, lol I really liked the movie! It was something different. The cast was outstanding! Besides Hayden I really liked the performance by Peter Saarsgard and Cloe Sevigny! It was really well done, I mean I adore Hayden and I was so annoyed by him in the end... OMG he was such a jerk! "Are you mad at me?" (Omg, that was a timless repetition!) "I know it's silly. I'll probably kill it! ... geez. I am still wondering why all of this could happen. It's a true story afterall... Do you guys think pictures could have prevented the catostrophy??? Well, my fave scene would be this one: "I want a Miata! I want my Playmobiles! I want a trip to Disney World! Show me the money! Shoooow me the money!" I loved how Hayden said it and the hip action! OMFG! Has anyone of you seen the "lies interview "with the real Stephen Glass? I don't like him. He's a jackass, damn it. __________________
