Muriel's Wedding (1994) #1 - I've seen your book. You've tried on every dress in Sydney!
Now who love this movie?
this classic australian tale with that little hint of ABBA obession. I love it i think toni collete does such a great job as muriel especially in the whole fantasy side where shes over the moon at getting married or at things that are happening to her its so believeble. At the same time i get sad in the movie because of her mother and how the father tells them they are useless and cheats on his wife and is just in general not caring for her. __________________

This is one of those movies I always hear about but then I never seem to be able to see it!
I should rent it and stop trying to catch it on the movie channels! Hehe. Thanks for the thread! __________________

i wasnt aware it was showing on the movie channels thats kind of cool. I occasionly get to see it on tv im sure its on at least once a year on normal tv for me.
i think they had a wonderful cast but again i couldnt stand the father or the actor who played the father because he played it so well. __________________

Oh, I love this movie! I absolutely recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it.
"You're terrible Muriel." I agree that the dad was such a a-hole. To the kids sure.. but it bothered me more with his wife. That was sad. I love the scene when they're on that island on the holiday.. and Muriel and Rhonda are singing/dancing Abba and meanwhile Tania and Nicole are on the floor having a catfight. |

haha that was awesome its sort of brings to light that muriel and rhonda are much better people then they are because they are on stage as if they are respected and loved and in fame and when the others are haivn gthe catfight its like they are the lowlife people who are not respected and that is very cool!
i think her sister was nice but her brother was a jerk well one of them. i felt really sorry for her sister because she seemed so innocent then mum died and muriel was away you could imagine it would take a toll on her life there. __________________

This is a cool movie. I enjoyed it, I'm not Australian, but it did seem very australian, and all the better for it. Toni Collette was great in it.

One of the best comedy dramas ever, and in terms of representing ABBA songs, I'd recommend this any day over the Mamma Mia! movies
Toni Collette and Rachel Griffiths have a great on-screen friendship, and they face so many tough times as Muriel (Collette) tackles her shyness and family controversy. Great soundtrack Lots of emotion A great journey of self-discovery __________________
