But even so she was the 1st to settle down and even waited till John had the money to support her. No, she's a total goodie goodie who saves it for her husband when the time is right

I think that description applies more to Jo (even though she did overcome her fear of change in the end)

Beth didn't seem like she was against marriage at all. She was a homemaker who enjoyed being domestic. She seemed cut out to be a future wife.
