ifp "spirit awards" 2004 nominees and winners
this saturday the ifc "spirit" awards will be given out.....i've seen most of the films that have been nominated......while the majority of movie goers didn't see any of these nominated films, i'm sure that many of the films listed would appeal to the posters here....check your listing for the broadcast time and channel in your area..

BRAVO usually airs the highlights as it's sister station is the Independent Film Channel. Frankly, this is the only award show worth paying attention to as the films are generally well worth it (even more important than Sundance which has become rather mainstream).
I'm excited to see who the winners will be - very good selection. I'm personally rooting for Sofia and Bill, but I'll be happy with most of the choices. __________________

Sofia Coppola's Lost in Translation Sweeps at the 2004 IFP Independent Spirit Awards Saturday February 28, 2004 By: IFP/LA The 2004 IFP Independent Spirit Awards, was held Saturday, February 28, at a tent on the beach in Santa Monica. The Spirit Awards is a celebration honoring films made by filmmakers who embody independence and who dare to challenge the status quo. This annual event, which began as a small grassroots program, has grown into one of the most anticipated events of the film year. This year's big winner was Focus Features' Lost In Translation, which won Best Feature, Best Director, Best Male Lead (Bill Murray) and Best Screenplay. Lost in Translation was written and directed by Sofia Coppola and produced by Sofia Coppola and Ross Katz. (Full winner, presenter lists following). This year's ceremony was sponsored by Premier Sponsors: IFC, Entertainment Weekly, DIRECTV, and Bravo; and by Principal Sponsors: Turning Leaf Vineyards, Starbucks Coffee Company, and Hewlett-Packard Company.
