The Prestige (2006) #1
No thread about this. This movie looks like it's going to be awesome.
The Prestige (2006) Synopsis: From acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan, comes a mysterious story of two magicians whose intense rivalry leads them on a life-long battle for supremacy full of obsession, deceit and jealousy with dangerous and deadly consequences. From the time that they first met as young magicians on the rise, Robert Angier (Hugh Jackman) and Alfred Borden (Christian Bale) were competitors. However, their friendly competition evolves into a bitter rivalry making them fierce enemies-for-life and consequently jeopardizing the lives of everyone around them. Full of twists and turns, THE PRESTIGE is set against the backdrop of turn-of-the-century London, the exceptional cast includes two-time OscarĀ® winner Michael Caine, Scarlett Johansson and David Bowie. trailer Apple - Trailers - The Prestige __________________

Ooh - what a cast! Thanks so much for the thread!
It's clearly still in post production but I'll look forward to seeing it. __________________

Meh, Robert Angier. Jackman's character's been turned American and Johansson's British. Weird.
Anyway, the novel, Christian Bale, and Chris Nolan are favorites of mine in their respective categories, so I'm obviously excited. A little more than two months to go. |

Hellooooo Shannon, my fellow Balehead.

I must admit it's gonna be weird seeing Caine's Cutter as a father-figure to Jackman's Angier. I'm so used to Batman Begins. Scarlett Johansson meh. I haven't seen any of her movies, but according to my friends, she's not that great. All I know is her British accent is pretty bad. |

I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out!! Saw a trailer for it a little while ago and it looks really good, plus Nolan is behind it and he never disappoints me!

Scarlett Johansson is good in some movies - I liked her in The Island and Lost in Translation, but I agree, not buying the British accent. They could've picked a different actress. __________________

Or picked to leave Olivia American, as she was in the book.

Can't wait for this movie. . Nolan has definitley become one of my favourite directors. Love Bale...not so sure about Jackman...but hey, this being a Nolan film, I think it'll be the movie itself that shines and not just an individual.

Nolan has such an amazing style with which he shoots his films. I haven't read it but apparently the book is really good. I'm very interested to see how Nolan is going to make this look on film. Good, no doubt
