Holiday Films #1 - Just about that time of year again.

Well seeing that the holiday season is coming soon and Thanksgiving in just around the corner I figure we could discuss our favorite holiday theme based movies from Miracle on 34th Street to Home Alone.

I will add some pictures later.

Awesome topic!

These six movies are classics to me and my family and we watch them every Thanksgiving/Christmas.

And these are for my own pleasure

Dr. Seuss- How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer

Frosty the snowman

The Nightmare before Christmas

My favorites:

It's a Wonderful Life
(yep - this one can STILL bring me to tears!)

A Charlie Brown Christmas
(Since I'm the age this was originally made for it just isn't Christmas with out that tree and Linus' speech)

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
(who can resist claymation?)

Scrooged
(I don't know why - I just like it)

Um...that's pretty much it. I'd rather see the ballet than watch any films - it's all about The Nutcracker, baby!

BleedingBlue 11-15-2004 10:41 PM

I love Christmas vacation and christmas story. Those two are the must watch at my house for christmas. Not one year goes by that I dont see part of those two movies around christmas time.

I also love watching trading places. Not really a christmas movie theme but it happens during christmas time and they always show it on tbs around december anyway.

Scrooged is another good one and its a wonderful life. The horror nut in my also likes seeing gremlins.

The Survivor 11-16-2004 03:54 AM

My personal favorites are Frosty The Snowman and How The Grinch Stole Christmas. Does The Nightmare Before Christmas count as well?

Who's going to see Christmas with the Kranks?

Galaxia21 11-16-2004 03:56 AM

I love National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation!

Squirrell!!!!

I want to see Christmas with the Kranks.

capesidefan 11-16-2004 04:06 AM

It's the most wonderful time of the year

Galaxia21 11-16-2004 04:10 AM

Yes, it is.

I also love Christmas Story. That bb gun and then when he says the "f" word.

And the lamp of the father's.

AutumnColorsღ 11-16-2004 04:22 AM

You'll shoot your eye out!

Great movie!

Blues- I love your sign!

The Survivor- I always thought The nightmare before Christmas was sorta christmas/halloween theme. I watch it either on Christmas or Halloween.

capesidefan 11-16-2004 04:24 AM

some other movies I liked when I was little were One Magic Christmas and Santa Claus the movie

AutumnColorsღ 11-16-2004 04:30 AM

Santa Clause the movie was a good classic

Galaxia21 11-16-2004 04:57 AM

I loved Santa Claus the movie too. I used to look forward to that every year!!

I love blue's sig too.. lol, I love Clark, he is just nuts. ;)

AutumnColorsღ 11-16-2004 05:05 AM

 I know, he makes one of the best funny dads in movies. I also love that old grandpa with him buring down the tree and course the grandma saying the 'I pledge of allegiance' for grace.

Galaxia21 11-16-2004 05:10 AM

 And her husband who gave Clark hell all the time and made the sewer pipes explode.

She bagged up her cat and gave it to them for a present and also made jello mold with cat food.

One part I love is when Julia-Louie Dreyfuss from Seinfield went over there to cuss out Clark and he opened the door and the squirrell jumps on her and the dog the jumps on it.. and then she gets back and her husband says "What happened to you??" and she knocks him the hell out.

AutumnColorsღ 11-16-2004 05:20 AM

:lmao: Omg, yeah!

I cant believe she bagged up her cat and gave it away for a christmas present  How crazy is that?

And  to all the christmas lights Clark put up on the house.

Another great quote I loved was when Clark was saying greetings all his coworks and his boss at work when they passed him by

Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas, kiss my ass. Kiss his ass. Kiss your ass. Happy Hanukkah.

Now I want to watch this movie

Galaxia21 11-16-2004 05:27 AM

Hey. If any of you are looking for any last-minute gift ideas for me, I have one. I'd like Frank Shirley, my boss, right here tonight. I want him brought from his happy holiday slumber over there on Melody Lane with all the other rich people and I want him brought right here, with a big ribbon on his head, and I want to look him straight in the eye and I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, dickless, hopeless, heartless, fat-ass, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey **** he is. Hallelujah. Holy ****. Where's the Tylenol?

Oh, I was just smelling - smiling. I was just blouse - brousing. I, uh, heh heh. Well, I guess it just wouldn't... Oh hee hee, it wouldn't be the Christmas shopping season if the stores were any less hooter than they - HOTTER than they are. Whew. It is warm in here, isn't it?
Mary: You have your coat on.
Clark: Yes, oh do I? Yeah, it is a bit nipply out. I mean nippy. What am I saying, nipple?

Awful. ;)

AutumnColorsღ 11-16-2004 05:38 AM

:lmao:

Great quotes!

The ending to the first quote you posted always cracks me up so much
Quote:

Holy *****. Where's the Tylenol?
. I can see why he would have a headache after all that. And his cousin Eddie actually brought his boss to his house with a big red ribbon on him

Galaxia21 11-16-2004 05:46 AM

 Same with me, it's always the end that gets me.

Eddie is so funny and stupid.

Can I refill your eggnog for you? Get you something to eat? Drive you out to the middle of nowhere and leave you for dead?
Eddie: Naw, I'm doing just fine, Clark.

AutumnColorsღ 11-16-2004 06:05 AM

:lmao:

Eddie: You surprised to see us, Clark?
Clark: Oh, Eddie... If I woke up tomorrow with my head sewn to the carpet, I wouldn't be more surprised than I am now.

Have you ever seen the Las Vegas one?

Galaxia21 11-16-2004 06:33 AM

Oh yeah, I've seen all of them and have all of them! Well mom and dad have the X-mas one and the first Vacation on dvd, lol, I used to watch Vacation and European Vacation all the time. I've go the European one on tape.

Rusty getting busted in that sex club. "Hey, my good man!" "She's not a prositute!"

And that whole scene where they're on the train always cracks me up. And the game show.. :rotfl:

AutumnColorsღ 11-16-2004 06:41 AM

I have them all as well! They are so great to own. I loved Ethan Embry as Rusty in Vegas Vacation. Him winning all those cars just by putting a dollar in a slot machine  I wish I could do that!

Rusty: I put a dollar in, I got a car. I put a dollar in, I got a car. I put a dollar in, I got a car. I put a dollar in, I got a car.

I love the part when they go to the hoover dam.

Hoover Dam Guide: I am your dam guide, Arnie, please don't wander off the dam tour and please take all the dam pictures you want. Now are there any dam questions?
Cousin Eddie: Yeah, where can I get some damn bait?

Galaxia21 11-16-2004 06:46 AM

 The Damn Dam Tour ;)

Yeah, I wish I could get that lucky too. Would be great!!

I used to love Ethan Embry! He was So cute!

AutumnColorsღ 11-16-2004 06:50 AM

Oh he was  still is too ;)

Have you ever seen any TV Christmas movies?

Galaxia21 11-16-2004 06:55 AM

Oh i know. ;) I loved him in Dragnet till they cancelled it. :pout:

Yeah, I've seen a bunch but it's been a while.

Hmm, does anyone remember that Holiday tv movie with Kirk Cameron? I still have that on tape after all these years.

AutumnColorsღ 11-16-2004 07:04 AM

Was Dragnet like a police drama type of show? I think I have heard of it but Im not sure.

I dont think I have ever seen that tv movie. I remember seeing Christmas shoes, A holiday to remember, and this other really cute movie about this guy who rents a fake family ( a mother and her little daughter) to impress his boss with and he needs up falling in love with the mother.
