A FAMILY DINNER — Sheriff Forbes delivers some
disturbing news to Alaric and Elena about the weapon
used in a recent murder. In the Salvatore brothers’
escalating quest to kill Klaus, Stefan turns to Bonnie and
Abby, while Damon reaches out to an old acquaintance
for help in setting up an elaborate plan. Intent on a plan
of his own, Klaus hosts a strange dinner party, where he
reveals another story from his family’s violent past until
an unexpected guest brings the party to an end.
Meanwhile, Caroline is heartbroken when she is unable to
stop a tragedy from unfolding

3.14: Dangerous Liaisons
SOME ENCHANTED EVENING — Elena is surprised
to receive an invitation to a formal ball, and when Damon
and Stefan hear the party is being hosted at Klaus’s newly
renovated mansion, they both insist on attending the
event with her. Caroline and Matt also receive invitations
to the ball from unexpected admirers. At the elegant party,
Elena learns of a horrifying plan that could lead to
numerous deaths and she must decide who she can trust
with her new information. Caroline discovers a side of
Klaus no one would have suspected. Finally, after an
evening of violence and dashed hopes, Damon finds a
new way to cope.

Just catching up... I'm pretty much in agreement that this epi doesn't sound like it'll be very interesting. I'm not exactly clamoring for a Bonnie centric episode (don't hate her or anything I just don't find her very interesting) I'll watch for the Damon scenes & the little bit of DE we'll get.

& heard about JP fangirling about SE in some new clip. So. Not. Surprised

I kind of feel like I shouldn't be posting here, because I've never posted on Ian's board before (I can barely keep track of one thread, let alone multiple boards), but my promise to myself that I would avoid spoilers for the second half of the season lasted (as I pretty much predicted) for about two episodes, and there is NO WAY I am venturing into the main S&S thread.

So, hi! Some people here know me from the DE thread. I was looking back at the last thread and saw lots of discussion about 3.14. First, can I ask why people think SE are kissing in this episode? Because I don't see that happening at ALL, unless Stefan is still the "villain" or whatever he's supposed to be and he forces himself on Elena (and I don't see the writers letting him do that). I just see some worry that SE are getting back together (maybe not in 3.14, but soonish), and I just wanted to say that I don't see it at all. Maybe one day, if the writers insist on forcing a true triangle for all seasons, but I just can't see it any time soon. I'd prefer that they never get back together ever, because I don't see how they can do that and have DE happen. Elena has feelings for both brothers now. She is developing feelings for one brother, and diminishing feelings for the other. She is not the kind of person to toy with them, and I just can't see her being comfortable with either one of them knowing that she still has feelings for the other. I also can't see Stefan being with Elena knowing she has feelings for Damon (and Stefan DOES know, and will only see more of those feelings throughout the rest of the season), or Damon being with her knowing she has feelings for Stefan (that was part of the point of his, "It's right, just not right now.")

I guess I don't have that much of a point with my post, but I just wanted to say that I really, really do not see SE happening again this season. I'm really curious as to why people think there is an SE kiss. Even if Stefan started showing his humanity again in tonight's episode, I just can't see why Elena would feel comfortable kissing him only a few episodes from now. So much has happened between SE, and I'm not just talking about the last episode. To me, the biggest problem SE has is that he betrayed her trust by allowing them to build a relationship without being his real self (whoever that is). He only let her see one side of him, he acted like that side of him was the only that had ever really existed, except for a bad patch when he first turned, and he constantly portrayed himself as the "good" one and Damon as the "bad" one while knowing full well that wasn't the whole truth. I just don't see how this can be repaired in a couple of episodes. Elena is changing, also, and Stefan has too much to work out on his own before he should ever even think about getting in a relationship with anyone. Even if he was back to season 1 Stefan tomorrow, that doesn't erase everything that has happened, and Elena would know that wasn't the true him (or maybe "whole" him is a better way to put it). I think that if the writers care at all about this story, Stefan will have to go through some sort of self-discovery after he starts "recovering," and a relationship shouldn't be a part of that. How can you share yourself with someone else if you can't accept yourself?

This is getting way too long, and I feel like I'm rambling, but I just really, really do not think that SE is going to be an issue in 3.14. It sounds like DE will be, and I hope it doesn't turn out to be awful, but right now I am trusting that the writers have put too much care into DE to stomp all over it in one fell swoop. They have put as through a LOT, and I feel like they know that they can't stall DE this season the way they did last. Patience does wear thin, and frustration grows. Stories that have been moving forward the way DE has this season has to keep moving forward to prevent that frustration and to keep the story intact.

Not that interested either, feels like a filler episode that is used to set the stage. But Damon/Klaus stuff and Damon/Alaric stuff should be fun. And also the DK scene made me think the coffin is opened so that will be good.

Ariana! I think the "kiss" is one of the many specs thrown there, kind of a "worst case" scenario. I certainly don't see it happening either. It won't be easy for Elena to forgive Stefan, for one thing. And I still say in that still, she looks angry at him and it is like he is forcing her to dance with him.. I don't know...

I don't think there is a kiss either, maybe something that Damon sees and it upsets him, maybe proves that SE still have some kind of connection and he backs off and gives up thinking he has no chance with Elena anymore. I'm going to hate seeing that part.
Still interested to find out how Elena finds out about Damon and Rebekah. Then again if Damon backs off he probably won't care who finds out about him and Rebekah especially if it's not just a one time thing.

Asena! So glad to see you! I feel like I haven't seen you in forever!

I've seen the stills (I don't know why I ever try to promise myself I'll stay away from spoilers; it never works out), and I don't see anything to worry about in them. To me it doesn't look like Elena is happy to be doing whatever it is she is doing with Stefan (they don't really look like they are dancing, more like they just met up on the dance floor), plus we are guaranteed a DE dance, so that's something (even if it does sound like things are going south for DE by the end of the episode). I'm glad to hear that an SE kiss is just speculation, because to me it makes no sense. SE are not going to be kissing any time soon unless under completely non-romantic circumstances (him forcing her, a spell, some kind of manipulation, something). And even then I find it really highly unlikely.

Ohh, I tihnk we are getting one great DE dance again. He seems to be her escort (and if so, they are sooo parallleling Founder's Ball ) and they do the main dance together. "Something" happens to break his heart later on, maybe a misunderstanding and so DE hits the breaks/a low point again but I was expecting it to happen. It wasn't going to be happy times till the finale and it is like "usual" to get some angst after a big positive improvement, and then we are "hit" with another one (IMO in the finale with Elena initiated kiss!).

The thing is, we know he loves her and we know she may be in denial, she may not know what to do about it, but she loves him. The rest of the "season" will be them realizing they can't ignore their feelings even if they both try and just saying that aloud to one another in the finale.

This is what I think! There's no way they are having Elena start to realize her feelings for Damon just to completely shut DE down for the rest of the season. This doesn't mean that I'll be the most happy shipper when whatever happens, happens, but I've always expected major angst for DE in the second half. In the first third of the season, I assumed that it would come in the form of an SE reunion, but now it seems obvious to me that reunion is not happening, and I think this angst will be entirely between DE, with Stefan not being a true part of it. I won't lie; I'm a little nervous as to what happens at the end of 3.14. I know people are speculating a hook-up with Rebekah, but I think there might be more to it than that. I have this feeling that something is gong to happen that we do not expect. As long as it doesn't separate DE or put them back to where they started at the beginning of season 2, I can handle it. I think. I just so agree that the rest of this season HAS to be about Elena coming to terms with her feelings for Damon. The way they've written things, there is no way that can't be so. That doesn't mean that she will BE with him, but I think she has to admit her feelings fully.

I hope that if something does break Damon's heart, it's a misunderstanding or something that is said in the heat of the moment. I am having difficulty trying to understand what could be so bad that Damon has "dashed hopes" (it definitely sounds to me like it's referring to Elena and feeling that he's lost his chance) after everything the two of them have been through, so I feel like it has to be really bad. I just hope it isn't too devastating and that we won't have to be tortured for episode after episode. I really trust the writers with DE this season, but there's a part of me that will never fully trust them because of season 2. So I'm optimistic overall, but there's a part of me that will always be a little nervous.
