That Ben Affleck and his family went cruising around Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard last weekend with pal Matt Damon and his brood. Both Cambridge homeys are new dads. Ben and Jen Garner have baby, Violet. Matt and Luciana, have new daughter Isabella.

Is GBG about finished filming?

Interesting that Diane Lane was on "The View" on Wednesday promoting another movie, but the movie conversation centered around "Hollywoodland." It's getting a ton of buzz. And very early for a September 8 release.

GBG will wrap on August 5. And then Ben will be off to Arizona to join his girls.

Safety first for Jen

Not all Hollywood moms are horror shows like Britney Spears.

Our spies at Boston’s Signature Air report that when Violet Affleck’s mum, Jennifer Garner, flew back into Boston the other night on a private jet, she refused to hop into the rented SUV that was awaiting their arrival from Arizona.

Apparently, the big black tank wasn’t equipped with a baby seat. And our spies say Garner, who flew in from the set of “The Kingdom,” was “adamant” that the driver get one!

“She took the baby in the terminal and didn’t come out until someone returned with a seat,” said our tarmac spy. “And when the guy did come back with one, it took him about 20 minutes to figure out how to secure it. She wasn’t happy.”

Obviously, the guy was a bachelor . . .

At some point, the seat was installed, baby Vi was strapped in and Mom and daughter drove off to see Daddy in Cambridge.

If only poor Sean Preston Federline had such a responsible parent!

Thanks for those. I think it would probably be a good move for them to raise their family away from LA. But then again, wherever they are, I'm sure they're both great parents and that's what matters the most.

The Afflecks home, sweet home in Cambridge

Tinseltown twosome Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are giving up the glitz and glamour of La-La to raise their daughter in Cambridge, Us Weekly reported on its Web site yesterday.

“They realize it’s important to be as ‘un-Hollywood’ as they can,” a pal told Us Weekly yesterday.

As you are sooooooooo aware by now, the Afflecks have settled quite nicely into a rented manse near Ben’s childhood home in the People’s Republic whilst he films “Gone, Baby, Gone.” (The film wraps Aug. 4.)

And the Hollywood honeys appear to be quite content with life in Harvard Square as they take daily walks with little Vi in the carriage, chatting up neighbors and fans along the way. Can’t do that in paparazzi-infested Brentwood!

The couple, according to the maggie’s sources, plan to commute to the Left Coast for film projects and other movie star commitments, but would call Cambridge home.

And why not? Ben’s mom, Chris, lives nearby, Jen’s sis lives in Newton and ya know how the “GBG” director loves the local politics (they’ve both ponied up to Deval Patrick’s gubernatorial campaign).

Ben’s PR man Ken Sunshine, who “doesn’t respond to stories originating in the tabloids,” told the Track his client has had “a great time while filming in Boston. But that’s all he’s focusing on for the moment.”
