The Brotherhood is called the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants in the comics. Corny name dating back to the '60s.

Alex: I've always had this feeling that Quicksilver and Namor were separated at birth. They're based on the same archetype, kind of.

That's quite possible. But Namor was a teammate of Steve Rogers/Captain America and Jim Hammond/Human Torch on The Invaders during WWII. I don't think Quicksilver is that old. Maybe a distant cousin? The arrogance is definitely there.

Not the Human Torch you know. This one wasn't human, actually. He was an android and was one of Marvel's earliest superheroes.

Jim Hammond was the first Human Torch in WWII who was a teammate of Captain America's, Sarah. I personally think he's cooler, but that's just me. He has a red outfit and has since become a SHIELD agent. He was also an Avenger for a time. He's a synthetic human, so he doesn't age. But he does have a human mind and personality.

Yep, Steve Rogers(Captain America), Jim Hammond(Human Torch), and Namor the Sub-Mariner were teammates in The Invaders, the WWII version of the Avengers. They were the Golden Age superheroes, kind of like DC's Justice Society. They were joined by two British superheroes: Union Jack, a British super-soldier(England's version of Captain America), and Spitfire, a British speedster similar to Quicksilver who was so superhumanly fast she left a trail of flame behind her.

Fun Fact: In the old cartoon Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, the character of Firestar was loosely based on Spitfire... at least, her costume was. The original storyline was for Peter Parker to be teamed with Bobby Drake(Iceman) and Johnny Storm, the Human Torch of Fantastic Four. But due to legal issues over the rights to the Human Torch, they weren't able to have Johnny in the cartoon(this is also the reason the 80's Fantastic Four cartoon replaced Johnny with Herbie the robot). So they came up with a female superhero with flame powers named Angelica Jones(named after an old girlfriend of one of the writers) using Spitfire's costume as inspiration. Spitfire is a blonde, but I suspect they made Firestar a redhead to make her look more like Mary Jane Watson.

Johnny Storm had a red outfit for a while too, in the '70s.

Those Invaders comics like the one above were from the '70s, not the so-called Golden Age of comics, even if they were set during WW2.

Yes, I know. The All Winners Squad was the actual Golden Age team. But Cap, Torch, and Namor all came out around the same time in the 1940's and were featured together in the comics, then called "Timely Comics" before the name Marvel was adopted. They just weren't called The Invaders until the 70's.

I can't say I'm much interested in 1940s comics. That's prehistory to me.
