Need some Sophie Turner pics.

canflam 08-15-2017 10:13 AM

Thanks for deciding on a new thread title.

PhoenixRising 08-15-2017 04:53 PM

You're welcome! :)

Yeah, I know, sum1. I'm gonna ask Sarah if she has any.

sum1 08-15-2017 05:25 PM

I don't agree with the title. Return of the Jedi is great.

PhoenixRising 08-15-2017 05:31 PM

I didn't write the script, sum1. But I did think that Jedi was the weakest of the three original films. I would've given it a rewrite. Didn't need the Ewoks, and they could've done Coruscant.

sum1 08-15-2017 05:43 PM

Feck Coruscant. The ewoks were ok. I think ROTJ is the second best of the trilogy after the first one. ESB is the weakest.

canflam 08-16-2017 03:18 PM

You didn't think the Ewoks were adorable?

Sweet Embrace 08-17-2017 08:18 AM

I like the quote title  Its true for most third films.

canflam 08-17-2017 10:31 AM

But also to get a 3rd film generally the first 2 should be pretty good, but there have been a bunch of ones that have been great such as ''Die Hard: With A Vengenace'' from 1995, ''Mission Impossible III'', ''Goldfinger'' from the James Bond series though I think most of the James Bond films I've seen were good, ''The Lord of The Rings: Return of The King'' was great I thought & of course ''Indiana Jones'' & The Last Crusade'' was incredible I thought. Now I'd rank each of those films I mentioned ahead of ''X-Men 3'', but those are just examples of 3rd films in hit movie franchises being widely praised & enjoyed.

sum1 08-17-2017 10:39 AM

I rank the Star Wars films Star Wars, Return of the Jedi, Empire Strikes Back. And as far as I'm concerned there are no other Star Wars films.

canflam 08-17-2017 10:44 AM

 I haven't even watched the newer ones yet like ''The Force Awakens''.

sum1 08-17-2017 11:59 AM

The Force Awakens is a load of plastic bull. They made a safe, childish Disney movie.

canflam 08-17-2017 02:37 PM

That's too bad.

PhoenixRising 08-17-2017 07:14 PM

OMG, I choose one Jean Grey quote from 1983 and all of a sudden this becomes the Star Wars thread? :lmao: Back to topic! :whip:

And if you have a problem with what she said, you'll have to take it up with Jean, although I wouldn't recommend it. :P

I like Sophie, she does resemble young jean to what I imagine.

PhoenixRising 08-18-2017 02:58 PM

Yeah, Sophie's facial features are closer to Jean. Famke never resembled Jean to me. I thought that Famke was another case of Hollywood shoehorning an actor into a role instead of casting one that resembled the character.

canflam 08-18-2017 03:16 PM

I think the days of actors in films & TV shows based on comics having to resemble the characters they portray are about over, but I do tend to like when actors that have some resemblance to the characters they are acting as.

I disagree. I think these days the casting is more spot on. Sophie is far closer to Jean than Famke, and I think Henry Cavill looks great as Superman. So does Chris Evans as Captain America and Chris Hemsworth as Thor. Iron Man could do better, though. And they really need to start casting taller actors for Cyclops.

canflam 08-18-2017 03:53 PM

In those yes, but in other cases they really stick out when the looks are so different as the TV show ''Preacher'' having ''Tulip'' played by an Ethiopian-Irish actress & in the film Constantine'' though I'm a fan of Keanu Reeves it would've been better I think if an actual Englishman would've portrayed ''John Constantine'' & perhaps dyed his hair blonde if possible, though that was only 1 of the differences in that film compared to the comics. Also Halle Berry as ''Catwoman'' & Tom Hardy as ''Bane'' in those Batman films directed by Christopher Nolan didn't really resemble their characters they were portraying much.

I didn't think about casting a taller Cylops. Which film did his height stick out to you?

Constantine and Catwoman were a long time ago. There are still plenty of characters who are a fair match between screen and comic. We should never give up demanding faithfulness to the comics.

Halle Berry wasn't playing Selena Kyle (the main Catwoman) anyway and she wasn't Catwoman in the Nolan films -that was Ann Hathaway. Halle Berry played a different Catwoman character in a standalone Catwoman film. The Catwoman that didn't fit was Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman Returns in 1992 -she was blonde. Tom Hardy was genius as Bane, so that's forgivable. Having not seen Preacher or read the Preacher comics, I have no opinion on the topic of Preacher casting, other than to note that Dominic Cooper is not an actor who has impressed me, but Ruth Negga has.

Cyclops is 6'3" in the comics. Tye Sheridan in X-Men: Apocalypse is noticeably short and James Marsden in the older films was only about average height.

Uhhh... Halle Berry wasn't Catwoman in the Nolan films, canflam. Anne Hathaway was Selina Kyle/Catwoman in the Nolan films, and she was the best thing about TDKR. I agree that Tom Hardy really didn't fit Bane all that well, but TDKR isn't even my favorite Batman film. I didn't care for it really, and I think Nolan seemed tired of the franchise by then. TDK was really the film he wanted to make. But Halle Berry's Catwoman didn't even have anything to do with Batman. Her character was Patience Phillips, a woman given cat-like superpowers from an Egyptian cat god, so that movie really had nothing to do with Batman, Gotham City, or the DC universe. It was pretty much just a typical Hollywood f:censored:-up.

And I agree with sum1. Cyclops is supposed to be 6'3" in the comics, and he's an imposing leader with a commanding presence. The movies keep making him into some adolescent beta male, which is ridiculous. How is he supposed to lead the team when they keep casting him the way they do? Oh, and I also agree with sum1 about Michelle Pfeiffer as Selina Kyle in Batman Returns. :high_five: Catwoman is not a blonde, and she's not someone's secretary. She's supposed to be a raven-haired cat burglar and femme fatale from a noir movie. If I see a blonde woman running around Gotham City in black spandex, I think Black Canary. :P

sum1 08-19-2017 09:02 AM

I agee Anne Hathaway was damn good as Catwoman. But I feel The Dark Knight Rises was the best of Nolan's Batman trilogy and Tom Hardy was incredible as Bane.

PhoenixRising 08-19-2017 09:20 AM

Okay, well there's another thing we won't agree on, sum1. But we at least agree that Anne was awesome as Catwoman.

And as I was saying, Anne also fit the character due to her having dark hair. Not as dark as I'd like, but whatever. It's ironic that for most of her career, Anne Hathaway had black hair, which was perfect for Catwoman. But when she finally does play Catwoman her hair is brown? :bawl: Awww, come on! :lmao: She was so close! :P But my point is that I think Hollywood is slowly getting it right more often with the casting, and Sohpie is an example of that with Jean Grey.
