I hate survivor games.

PhoenixRising 03-23-2019 04:03 PM

I figured, sum1. ;)

There was a preview of Spider Man: Into the Spiderverse at the end of Venom. It was a load of crap. Juvenile bull. I don't see what all the fuss is about.

wickedrum 04-23-2019 09:05 AM

what was the scene?

Hollywood is obsessed with making Spider-Man a teenager all the time.

Parker is an adult in that one, but Mike Morales is a kid in it and he's the main character.

sum1 04-24-2019 07:44 AM

That's my point. In the comics, Peter was the main character in the Spiderverse storyline, meeting all of his alternate reality versions(he'd met Miles previously in the Spider-Men miniseries). Even when Peter's an adult in the movies, he's diminished.

I'd like to see Kraven's Last Hunt in a movie. That was hardcore.

sum1 04-25-2019 07:10 PM

Yeah, I don't like Parker sidelined as Spider Man. He's the original. I'm not usually keen on characters that are spinoffs of other characters, though there are exceptions.

i have a big thing for Black Cat, MJ Watson, and Silver Sable. :melt:

Thank, you! :high_five:  That's the MCU that you'd be getting if I was running things. :P  Peter's storyline from the 1980s is still hands down my favorite.

I agree with you completely, sum1. Scary, huh? :P

I have to admit, the subpar run of Spider Man films this century has reduced my respect for and interest in the character, and I wasn't terribly interested in him before that, not since the '80s. He's just not my thing. He's too nice, too tame, too ordinary, not edgy or out there enough, not powerful enough either. My favorite characters are people like Wolverine, Hercules and Storm. The only character in my top favorites who's especially nice is Shadowcat and she's unusual in other ways. Magneto, Thor... my top six favorites are not typical superheroes. I don't go for characters like Iron Man, Captain America and Spider Man.

PhoenixRising 04-27-2019 03:38 PM

Well, I got into Spider-Man comics in the 1970s, and that's when JRJR was working on the title. It's also when Marvel expanded his story into three titles - The Amazing Spider-Man, Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man, and Marvel Team-Up. But the 80s is when I think things really took off. I didn't mind some of the stuff they did in the 90s, although the clone thing annoyed me, but I honestly don't know what the hell they're doing in the 21st century. Marvel is too politically correct and "woke" for their own good.

Oh, and I heard DC outsold them this year.

sum1 04-27-2019 04:51 PM

JRJR wasn't working on Spider Man until the 1980s, not the 1970s. And he was working on Spider Man again during the whole Ben Reilly thing.
