I guess we're gonna have to wait for Sarah to come back to explain that.

They'd better use Dafne.

It's possible that may happen, sum1.

Keen was great. She really got that Wolverine thing spot-on. The Wolverine-like persona is very at odds with what women are encouraged to be in our society, so I think it can be harder for an actress to manage than for a male actor, but she passed with flying colours, and at the age of 11 no less. And for those who feel that strong female characters should always have a sympathetic "emotional" side, well she managed that fine too. She was a kid with a heart and a savage animalistic mutant warrior at the same time. It was pretty impressive. The kid deserves a bloody Oscar.

I agree. Both Hugh and Dafne deserve nominations at least. Unfortunately we'll have to wait a while before finding out if the Academy will throw some love in Logan's direction. But you also know how the stupid Academy feels about child actors and movies in the sci-fi or comic book genre, sadly. The Dark Knight got screwed back in 2008.

Heath Ledgr won a posthumous Oscar for the Dark Knight, actually.

So Hugh, Dafne, and Patrick have to die this year to win Oscars.

Honestly, I don't even think any of them will be nominated unfortunately. I've been following what experts have been saying about who the contenders are, and none of them are in aggregate even in the top 10 contenders list. If any one of them actually gets a nomination, my guess is that it would be Patrick Stewart since he's at least getting a little bit more love than Hugh and Dafne. If Hugh gets an Oscar nomination for 2018, it will be for The Greatest Showman, but I don't even think he'll get one for that even though I can already tell his performance in that (plus singing and dancing) is way better than Ryan Gosling's performance in LaLa Land last year, which did receive an Oscar nomination.

Uhhh, no. No dying.

Yeah, Patrick Stewart also deserves a nod for his performance as Charles Xavier. It makes you wonder what things might've been like if all the X-Men movies were this good. Damn Hollywood. And you're right, even though Hugh, Dafne, and Patrick gave stellar performances, Hollywood's bias against anything comic book or science fiction will probably get in the way.

I think there's no hope for any Oscars. Too much genre prejudice.

I agree, sadly. The Dark Knight was as close as comic book movies got with Heath Ledger's Best Supporting Actor Oscar for The Joker. But even that movie got unfairly snubbed in every other category, which is why the Academy expanded their Best Picture nominees from 5 to 10.

I thought the Academy expanded their Best Picture nominees from 5 to 10 so they could include more superficial pretentious films that nobody is going to care about in 20 years.

Well, the Academy originally did have ten nominees for Best Picture when the Oscars first began. They shortened it to five in the 1930's I believe. As for why they just happened to expand the nominees back to ten the year after the 2009 Oscars, their reasons were ambiguous, but one of the heads of the Academy was quoted as saying that, "I'd be lying to you if I said that The Dark Knight didn't come up in the discussion."

Anyway, I'd be really pissed if Logan didn't get any attention from the Academy given how great the film is, especially in the acting category.
