I got to see part of the itemized bill for my ER visit, one of the injections they gave me was 6,000.00 must have been some really good stuff

Now I'm waiting for the actually hospital stay bill, if what the lady I talked to today said is right, it'll be about half of what the ER one was.

Yeah, at least my 'thing' doesn't really seem to be life threatening.. just 'quality of life' threatening. Still expensive though

That's just as important too, quality can be more important than quantity.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure my meds are part of a money making scam

cancer meds are outrageously priced and seem to increase yearly..

^I don't get why cancer meds cost so much money. So many people has cancer and everyone should be able to afford the meds.

Yeah that's crazy! With all the changes in American health care, I'm not sure how everything's arranged nowadays

But here we all have mandatory health insurance (ca. €100 per month, but if you don't make a lot of money, you get an allowance of €70), unfortunately with a deductible of around €400 per year. Lots of stuff going on here in healthcare too, most of it for the worst, so I'm curious how it's gonna look in a few years...
But for now, I don't pay more than around €750 per year for all healthcare (which can still be hard to pay for some people, but most people can afford it), which isn't too bad, if you look at lots of other countries

So at least that also goes for cancer patients..

The changes here have screwed more people over than it's helped. And the ones who it did help, about a half are struggling to meet the monthly payments...good intentions, poor execution. needs serious reworking.

Anyway...before I forget, for Dave's and Lars's benefit...Happy Glad You're not a camel day!

Yeah, I think it's kinda fair to have mandatory health insurance, because in the end it lowers the costs of people who really need help. But people who don't make a lot of money often can't pay it, and there should be regulations for stuff like that

Like here people not making a lot of money (also including students, etc.) get that €70/month allowance, and you can also choose to increase your deductible up to €700 to lower your monthly payments, if you're healthy and all.
