College/university thread # 2

well we needed a new thread so here it is

that's basically the story of my life, when I leave an exam I'm like 'it wasn't that hard' and then you get your scores and it's like how could I've done so bad on that

Hey everyone. I'm Leeann.

I've just entered a crucial year at my university so I may use this thread for some ranting further down the line.

I'm a returning student returning to do Masters in Network Security. It's really hard work and it's only the end of my first week (I missed the first official week due to late registration). It's especially hard when I don't come from a computer networking background. I got my Honours in Computing Interactive Multimedia so I'm basically having to learn networking from scratch.

And word on the exam thing. Last year I thought one particular exam went really well and I failed it. However I got a compensatory pass for it at the end of Semester B as other results went in my favour.

Hey Leeann welcome to the thread
good luck with your master! Network security really sounds like something very interesting but anything computer related is always challenging because you never know if the computer will cooperate or not

Hey Leeann! Welcome fellow Heigl-ite and now College-ite. Rant all you like here as it is most welcomed.

I only went to one class today - Geography. We have a test on Tuesday so it was review. I have a pinched nerve in my shoulder which went all the way down to my hip and leg and I couldn't sit well. I missed Tuesday because I reacted bad to medication I am on for my wrist. Ugh. Not a good week. Not good.

The best thing to do on a test is always think the worst. If you think the worst, then you won' be disappointed if you do fail the test because that is was you expected.

Profs at my university are going on strike this week. Oh joy. So the question is... do I study for the test I have on Tuesday or not?

No it's not awesome. I'm not happy about it one bit. Yes, I mean, the profs have a right for wage increases, but when I pay $5K a year, I do not want to see them striking.

There's a strike date of Oct 18th. Crap. I have a test that day. The prof better all give us A's.

Hi everyone
I'm glad I found this thread.
I'm in my last year of high school, so I have to apply to college. But the thing is that I'm in france and I would like to study in the US but it's quite expensive and I haven't found any scolarships.
This year is going to be stressful, cause of graduation at the end of the year and all!

My first year of University, the profs went on strike for nearly 3 weeks.

I didnt think it was awesome..

The only good thing that came out of it was the fact that I could drop my chem course. It was a dreadful, difficult chem course that I wasn't prepared for and was doing horrible in anyways. I dropped it at the last minute..like, sometime in November. Anyways. The good thing was that people who dropped courses that late did NOT recieve any record of it on their transcripts..and got ALL the money back for the course.

So it wasnt a total loss.

I took 2 years off and am now back at Uni doing my Master's. Its extremely weird being back..and the master's program is a bit different, not as structured as an undergrad degree. Its taking me some time to get adjusted

Surprisingly I'm amazed at how well I'm doing in college. In high school I was a C/B average student but here I'm getting tons of A's in all my classes- it's weirding me out!

And that whole thing about high school preparing you for college- yeah that's a load of dog doo. I didn't learn anything in high school that I've been able to use for my college courses.

afternoon everyone!

How is everyone's day been so far? I have some papers to read tonight for a coursework due the end of the month then I need to read a big CISCO manual in order to prep for tomorrow's lecture. Ahh, the joys(!) of being a Masters student!

Good luck with your midterm!
