Apparently, before a person leaves, the last meal has to be dumplings. I didn't know about this.

Nice t-shirt. I do love dimsum so much. Luckily, I live close to China Town in Birmingham.

I'm chinese and I don't own a rice cooker. I don't need one I used to make rice with microwave. I meant making jasmine rice with microwave not like minute rice. It works fine really. Now I just make my rice on the stove. I eat rice about once a week. I honestly am tired of rice. I can't eat chinese everyday anymore. What I find sad it's when my bowl of rice remain white. I hate eating rice without sauce which happened a lot when I used to live with my mom.

I make fried rice every now and then. The secret is always use leftover rice and to fry them in the pan to dry the rice before putting anything else.

That's good to know Tyra. My brother doesn't eat rice much now, but only because he doesn't have time to make it. At home we eat rice most days but sometimes I do fancy a bit of roast dinner.

About the tip on fried rice: I forgot to mention that to know when the rice is dry enough, you should see grains of rice jump up from the pan. When the drying process is done, you notice that they won't stick together and get a light color (meaning not the initial plain white but not brown). If the fried rice is successful, you should be able to see the grains fall one by one when eating it with a spoon. The rice should have a little chewiness to it and not soft like it was steamed.

If the rice stick together no matter what you do trying to dry it up, it might simply be the rice.
