I guess ratings started to slide and it was expensive to continue or something. A lot more work went into that show than a regular sitcom.

The floor of the set was raised higher than a normal show for puppeteers and there was a lot more time taken to set up shots and stuff. It was just some of the things that brought tension to the set.

And they had that plastic smell as soon as you opened the box.

I remember the Halloween episode. ALF showed up at the party with a zipper he put on the front of him to make it look like he was wearing a costume.
