I was 1 at the time so I don't remember. All I know is that my sister had me at the park down the street. It got real dark as if it were night. Walking in the grass felt like walking in sand with the ash. People couldn't see out of their car windows even with the wipers going.

I remember looking out my window and seeing white ash falling on the road and cars. Mom told me it was from a volcano and it wasn't snow. I was almost 4 and we lived in BC, that's how far the ash fell!

My parents heard the bang from the explosion but I don't remember that, just the ash!
