Colin's new movie S.W.A.T. comes out August 8th in the U.S., but its not too early to start discussing it!

Plot: In the explosive action-thriller S.W.A.T. starring Samuel L. Jackson and Colin Farrell, and inspired by the '70s television series, Farrell portrays Jim Street, an L.A.P.D. officer whose recent demotion to a desk job leaves him desperate for a second chance to don the elite S.W.A.T. uniform. That break comes when team commander Hondo (Jackson) is assigned to recruit and train five top-notch officers for a new Special Weapons and Tactics unit (S.W.A.T.). After weeks of rigorous physical training, the new team is quickly thrown into action when a notorious drug lord, played by Olivier Martinez (Unfaithful), offers a $100 million reward to anyone who can free him from police custody. While accompanying the drug lord out of Los Angeles into the hands of the Feds, the S.W.A.T. team is pursued by a ruthless and well-armed band of reward seekers.

Michelle Rodriguez appeared very passionate about her support for "S.W.A.T." co-star Colin Farrell while at the Premiere of the CIA thriller, "The Recruit." Prior to seeing "The Recruit," Rodriguez spoke about working with Colin Farrell and her own desire to be a CIA agent:

What's your role in S.W.A.T.?
I basically play one of the crew - the only female S.W.A.T. member in the United States of America.

Did you do a lot of training to prepare for the role?
I basically trained with a couple of S.W.A.T. members for a hot minute.

And your character works with Colin Farrell's character?
Yes.

What was it like working with Colin?
He's cool, man. It's all about being cool. I'm here tonight [at "The Recruit" Premiere] supporting Colin. I am looking forward to seeing my buddy Colin represent in front of Pacino. That's sweet.

Any funny stories about working with Colin Farrell?
I'll keep that all to myself (laughing).

Are you ever going to play anything other than a tough girl? I asked you this at the “Blue Crush” premiere and you said yes.
(Laughing) Maybe in my sexually frustrated 30s.

In keeping with "The Recruit's" CIA theme, have you ever wanted to be a part of the CIA?
At one time in my life. When I was about, I'd say, 18 or 19 years-old, I wanted to be a part of the CIA just because they know those intimate secrets about 'you're being watched' kind of deal. So I was just always into knowing. I like to know things.

Lena, I think you're rite! I'm pretty excited about this movie. I usually like SWAT/Cop movies.

It's a big bonus that Colin is one of the swat members.

S.W.A.T. TRAILER REVIEW

Following the clips, the producer showed the first teaser trailer for “S.W.A.T.,” which he also produced and is coming out this summer. I’m sorry to report that it looks rather mundane. The cast includes Samuel L. Jackson (bald with a mustache), Michelle Rodriguez, LL Cool J, and Colin Farrell.

I find it hilarious that all the studios simultaneously decided that Colin Farrell was a star, so they started putting him in everything before the public even knew who he was. Don’t get me wrong, I like the guy, but I’ve never seen a star created so artificially instead of by virtue of his work. Again, it’s not that he does bad work. It’s just that he’s supposed to be this big star now, without a single hit to his credit. “Minority Report” was Cruise’s movie, and “Daredevil” was a hit because of the comic fans and Affleck/Garner.

Anyway, back to the teaser. It has a cool tagline: “Even cops dial 911.” But the images I saw were mostly typical action fare. There were guns, and shootouts, and cars exploding. There looks to be a big scene involving an airplane on a runway, and trying to stop it from taking off or something. An overhead shot showed one of the SWAT team on top of the plane trying to break in. There were lots of shots of the team in action, descending on ropes from a helicopter, infiltrating buildings, breaking windows, that kind of thing. Also some scenes of “team bonding,” where Sam Jackson was either giving a motivational speech or the team was all joking around with each other to show their cohesiveness and camaraderie. Nothing looked bad, but nothing stood out either. It looked very much like a run-of-the-mill action movie with “Super-Cops.” Maybe they’re holding something back till the release date is closer, or maybe it’s just not very original. I can’t say because I know nothing about the script. But so far, I’m on the fence. I’ll probably see it, but I’m not drooling with anticipation.

The plot sort of reminds me of an old issue of "Batman" where a killer who is days away from execution offers a 10 million dollar reward to whoever kills Batman, who got him put behind bars. The funny thing is there is no indication that the guy really had that kind of money from reading it.

Of course, both that guy and the drug lord in this probably are full of it.

I agree he looks really really really hot! And the uniform adds to the hotness factor, I cannot wait for this movie. It is getting a UK release right?

Wow look at Colin in the pic above, doesn't he look different!?!!

he does look different , my friends agree. he looks somewhat of a hispanic guy instead of an Irish guy. i don't agree to him being completly Irish at all. he doesn't look it. but it's not like ireland doesn;t have diversity. All my friends seem to say the same thing and i know some irish people and they say colin doesn't look completly irish.

Just watched the trailer. Wow. Was that just me or is their a love interest for his character there, a glimpse? [img]smilies/look.gif[/img]

And his voice, another American accent... Sounded pretty damn sexy, mind you!

i don't know about you, but i think colin looks different in everything he does. i don't know why though. sure sometimes there may be very noticable differences (ie, Daredevil) but sometimes they just seem subtle. am i making sense?
