There's actually a copy of the DVD on sale on eBay, and the sleeve looks pretty good. But I'm sure it's not an official copy, so I'll refrain.
I've started reading The Persian Boy, the second book in Mary Renault's Alexander trilogy. It's beautiful, and lends me a whole new appreciation of Bagoas, who in the film was no more than a sultry-eyed whipping boy. __________________

Yeah, they were a good pair, but even better was Colin and Jared!
I tried looking for a release date on the dvd and found nothing. I'm guessing it probably doesn't come out in March. __________________

I take that we are all Alexander/Hephaistion shippers then?
The more I read of Bagoas, the more sympathetic I get toward him. It's so awkward when you're reading about a love triangle (Roxane doesn't count since she's a bitch) and you really sympathise with everyone involved. But I think A/H just have something that no one else can touch. Achilles and Patroklos. At last I knew where [Hephaistion] stood, grafted into [Alexander's] spirit, deeper than any memories of the flesh. There could be only one Patroklos. - Bagoas I made some Alexander/Hephaistion avatars. They are not very good, but I was obsessed. ETA: Batch two. Slightly better, methinks. __________________

Thanks guys.
I quite like the idea of Alexander/Hephaistion not having shipper name as such. It just seems too glib since they were real people and everything... If they have shipper names, I want it to be 'Achilles/Patroklos'. __________________

Thanks Scare Queen. I like 'Comrades', but I don't think 'Star-crossed lovers' really fits, since the term is supposed to portray some sort of fatal, doomed love. Alexander and Hephaistion's love wasn't doomed - they just died early.
Hey guys - I was thinking about the scene, the night before the battle when they were walking back to Alexander's tent. At the end of it, why does Alexander say "It's hardest to be alone the night before the battle", or something thereabouts? Why did he want to be alone? It looked to me as though Hephaistion wanted to stay with him, but Alexander turned away. I couldn't figure it out. __________________

I don't think Alexander wants to be alone though, cus he's actually a really lonely man and he certainly wants company especially with Hephiastion but probably he knew that he and haephaistion being together could spark some uproar in the army camp about him favouring him or something since they work together and all that's my analogy. And then after the army's final victory, they somehow still didn't get to enjoy the happiness together in the end cus Hephaistion passed away followed by Alexander, which was what was what seemed to happen in Romeo and Juliet as well imo.

I don't really remember the scene that well, I've only seen the movie once, but I kind of thought that when Alexander made that comment about being alone, he was implying that he wanted Hephaistion to spend the night with him.
