The Hinchcliffe-Holmes Era of Doctor Who is, in conventional fan circles, considered to be full of legendary stories and Season 13 is listed as being the best season of Classic Who, but, so far, neither of the Season 13 Serials that are regarded as seminal (Pyramids of Mars and The Android Invasion) in conventional fan circles have lived up to their purported reputations. __________________

I didn't like them that much either. I think s15 and s16 aren't bad. I've just started s17 and love "City of Death".
And I totally ship the Doctor and Romana! |

Oh, I didn't know! That's nice! I liked him more with Romana I though.
I'm nearly done with the Baker era, only 3 eps left I haven't watched yet. (Plus the special with Elisabeth Sladen and K9, I think he isn't in that one.) |

With just one story to go in Season 13, and inspired by my last comment here, I've decided to rank the season thus far.
Terror of the Zygons - 3.5 out of 5 Planet of Evil - 3 out of 5 Pyramids of Mars - 2.9 out of 5 The Android Invasion - 2.5 out of 5 The Brain of Morbius - 4.9 out of 5 I was sorely tempted to give The Brain of Morbius a perfect score for its remixing of classic horror tropes, the extranarital knowledge I have of the story based on The Timeless Children, and the parallels I noticed between it and other subsequent stories (primarily the Sixth Doctor story Mindwarp and the Tenth Doctor story Fires of Pompeii), but since I don't really like giving out perfect scores to anything, I split the difference and went with a 4.9. Now we'll see if the next story, The Seeds of Doom, can measure up to or match it. __________________

From that bunch I also remember enjoying "The Brain of Morbius" the most. I especially liked how well the sisterhood was choreographed and all.

"Shada" is absolutely brilliant!
Now I only have the special "K9 and Company" left. Will try to write a list of must-see-episodes of the Tom Baker era when I'm done with that... |

I don't have the ability to actually watch the half-live-action/half-animated Tom Baker version of Shada, but still intend to listen to podcasts covering it once I get to Season 17.

"K9 and Company" didn't impress me, but it was nice to see Sarah again.
Here's the must-see-eps of the Tom Baker era imo: - Robot (because it introduces him) - Genesis of the Daleks (introduces Davros) - Terror of the Zygons (introduces the Zygons) - The Brain of Morbius (for the classical horror feels) - The Deadly Assassin (Gallifrey!) - The Robots of Death (great costumes) - Horror of Fang Rock (great atmosphere) - The Invisible Enemy (fun and introduction of K9) - The Invasion of Time (more Gallifrey) - The Ribos Operation (the Doctor meets Romana for the first time) - The Pirate Planet (written by Douglas Adam) - City of Death (fun) - Shada (brilliant story) - State of Decay - The Keeper of Traken - Logopolis (his last episode) |

And so Tom Baker's second season as the Doctor comes to an end with The Seeds of Doom, a story that felt very Modern/New Who-esque in scope and execution and evoked for me parallels to the Tenth Doctor stories The Sontaran Strategem and The Poison Sky, particularly in regards to its inclusion of UNIT sans the familiar characters who had hithertofore been associated most closely with the organization.
The Fourth Doctor's role in the story as a more ruthless 'action man' also evoked parallels to the Third, Sixth, Ninth and aforementioned Tenth Doctors, as well as what little we know about the Fugitive/Forgotten Doctor (Jo Martin). Although not quite as good as The Brain of Morbius, this one is still better than almost all of the rest of Season 13 and gets a rating of 4.8 out of 5. __________________

Nah, just the story with him and Sarah wasn't that interesting.
