Yes, he's Scottish (like David Tennant). He can do the accent very well. He talks in Scottish when he's talking to his parents. He learned American when he went to the U.S. because his classmates was teasing his accent.

I think it's probably because of familiarity? It's like Gillian Anderson. When she's in the UK, she speaks in a British accent. Otherwise, it's American for her.

But I like Scottish, Irish, English, and Australian accents WAY better than American accents. American accents are boring

I would much rather listen to them in their real accents. But that's probably because I am in the US and I hear American accents all day long. But really there is nothing special or fun about them.

I was really impressed when I first heard John speaking Scottish considering he's spoken American probably most of his life.
