I like the ep in S8 I think where 12 was inside a Dalek. I think "Into the Dalek" was the name of that episode.

yes I remember that ep! That was a really good one. The Doctor had to really struggle with helping the Dalek

I think the staying power is that we get a new Doctor (and companion) every time. It keeps the show fresh for me.

Yes I agree. New cast makes it hard to get bored and the storylines and character development chance frequently based on casting changes.
