I know they can't be forced to attend but if the public votes and you win an award you should be there in person unless you have a legit reason for not being there.

I don't know if it's still this way, but in the past the producers could decide the winners. A couple of years ago, if you read the fine print on the Teen Choice Awards when voting, it actually said the producers would sometimes choose the winner. Most teens probably are not going to read the fine print. So the person who gets the award, may not be the person that gets the most votes.

And the winners are notified that they won beforehand, so it would be unlikely for the losers to show up because they know they didn't win. I'm almost 100% Lauren won't be there.

Yeah, Parenthood is way too intelligent of a show for a majority of the Teen Choice Awards' target audience. The show is a bit beyond their intellectual reach.

I don't think it has anything to do with intelligence. While I'm sure most teens would pick a younger show over Phood to watch regularly, I'm fairly certain that most can appreciate the themes of Phood.

It does. It's clearly a 18 to 49 demographic show (which is the demo you want) and broken down further they have also shown the numbers were stronger in higher income households. I did enjoy when the Parenthood writers were dying laughing about so many people googling "a$$burger's" after the pilot though. Bahahaha.

Well, I didn't say that the show's demographic was teenagers. I just don't think it's fair to say that teenagers aren't intellectual enough to appreciate Parenthood.

I didn't say teenagers aren't intellectual enough (as obviously 18 and 19 year olds are teenagers). I said the majority of the target audience of the TCAs probably cannot grasp a majority of the complex family relationships that make Parenthood interesting. I mean, my 12 year old cousin and all her buddies have been voting up a storm for the TCAs - THEY are a big part of the target audience for that particular award show. And I also used the word "majority". There was nothing unfair about what I wrote.

ETA: Haha. My cousin just actually told me she's way excited about the Justin Bieber performance. Oh. my.

I think Lauren votes would've also still been about GG with its constant exposure to new audiences through reruns.

Yeah totally. People who voted for her cleary voted more because of GG than Parenthood. After all it's a 10pm show. I had to fight hard to watch a TV show at 8 pm at the age of 13 lol.

Same here lol. So yeah Lauren is never going to win. It's nice that's she's nominated though. But I also don't mind that much that she isn't going to win. I mean, the TCA's and Parenthood do not fall in the same list in my head lol.

Katka, thanks! Voted. Among other shows of course. Parenthood isn't doing that good yet. Even a show like Gossip Girl is far ahead and that's just not right lol

OT - Parenthood the movie is about the start here... hey wouldn't it be cool if one day they make a movie version of the TV show. Kinda like what happened with Stargate.
