We're expecting record high temps in central Texas today and tomorrow (101 and 102 here in Austin). And then Rita is supposed to hit the coast. This is supposed to be the beginning of fall. I hope the OTOs who are closer to the coast than I am get away from the storm.

Hi OTO's,

Took a quick trip to Wisconsin yesterday, just had the urge to get out of town for a few hours and see some of my favorite sights. Went up to Shullsburg and looked up gravity hill, I'd heard about it but never been there, a really strange sensation you park at the bottom of the hill, put the car in neutral and it rolls back up the hill. It even gets up some speed backing up. Really strange.



To keep all of you updated on the publishing front, I contacted the publisher to see how things were going and my editor said they were still trying to decide on the cover of the book. To digress, my original publisher gave very specific instructions on what he was looking for in a cover. He wanted a narrow road, lined with trees, and either plain or a biker coming through them. I liked the biker idea so went to some trouble finding the right spot and having a friend ride his bike toward me. When I submitted the completed disks to the new publisher, (the company was sold at the first of the year) I included the photos for the cover and a mock up that had been done of what they were looking for. Anyway this new publisher has been beating around the bush but reading between the lines I could tell they were not happy with the original concept so finally I sent an email to the editor/publisher telling her that I had a picture that I had manipulated of a biker riding off into a sunset. I put two pictures together to create a rather surreal but colorful scene. She asked me to email the picture which I did and to my surprise I get an email back saying "We really like this picture and it has gone to the top of the list of possible covers." So hopefully before to long they will make a decision. This picture is one I was just messing with and since it was so NOT what was originally asked for, I hadn't considered using it. Although the guy in the picture liked it so well he had a big poster made from the picture. Anyway, here it is, let me know if you all think it would make an eyecatching cover.
