Here is a question for everyone.

Do you think the cover promoted by www.tvshowsondvd.com, as being the artwork for the S1 set is in fact the official one?

The reason I ask is twofold. I was not that impressed with it overall and felt it really did not capture the real spirit of Roswell. To be honest it could have been the cover for a horror film as there was no real 'alien' theme to it. And secondly (and maybe more telling) is that Amazon.com still do not have any cover displayed on their site. I would have thought given the market share that Amazon have they of all the sites would have been one of the first to have the official artwork. Maybe I'm way off base but it's something that strikes me as being odd.

I really like the art... its so awesome, it attracts people. It would make people say Ohhh that looks good, I wonder what's Roswell about.

Yeah, I used to go to Amazon first to get my info, but experience has shown me that they often release information later than other sites. When the last Buffy Soundtrack came out, Amazon didn't display the cover art or track listings until the CD was already available in stores, weeks after other sites had the info out. And they didn't list the Roswell DVD until a week or two after other sites did, and even then they didn't immediately provide details about what the DVDs contained. Amazon's a great site to order from, but they can be a little slow at providing the details of the merchandise.

To answer your other question: I was initially disappointed with the Roswell cover art. I expected it to either be green and black, using the design of the trading card series, or to use the original WB black and white promo shot (Max in foreground with Liz slightly behind, and Michael and Isabel looking off in the background). The cover art has since grown on me, and now I get a kick out of the fact that the black and orange cover nicely matches the colors of our Fan Forum Roswell board. It's sadly lacking in alien symbols, though (hopefully there's some on the inside covers), and it would be nice if Isabel and Michael were featured more prominently.
